First, I find it hysterical that a person who claims to be or have been a fighter declares "that's true" with regards to your question. I have one word for that individual "BUSTED".
Saying that boxers need to have their nasal bone removed serves only to prove you are full of krap, you never boxed a day in your life, other than Oranges and Melons down at your local Piggly Wiggly. If you're going to claim to be something you're not, at least get the info correct, POSER.
To answer your question correctly, you need to go see an ENT Specialist and have an eval done on the nasal bone. In some cases, not all (like the POSER tried to say), the nose is so prominent that a doctor may recommend having the bone removed. The majority of people, however, have mostly cartilage in the nasal cavity. Much like the cartilage in your ear.
I know because I was an Amateur Boxer for 5 1/2 yrs (New York Golden Gloves/PAL 147lb Champion All-Borough). After a fight I had with a guy named Breland my nose was shattered. The doctor who did the surgery rebuilt the frame of my nose with cartilage from my ear. I fought 4 more fights before I hung up my gloves and the nose was fine.
In regards to your nose "bleeding", believe me your nose is going to bleed when you get inside the ring. Most nose bleeds are due to ruptured capillaries inside the nose. These majority of nose bleeds have nothing to do with the nasal bone.
I pasted a web page link for a Doctor who deals in Rhinoplasty (Nose Jobs) and halfway down the page is a Pro Boxer asking about his nose. POSERs beware, facts shine light on lies.
Maybe that "wannabe" should try to pose himself off as something more his speed like "Professor of Custodial Arts". Good Question and Good Luck.

I boxed for two years and never did this.
I did get my nose broken a couple of times. Once I fought a Houston golden glove middle-weight and he broke me nose. My nose was shoved to the left side of my face and one of my nostrils was closed off. I had to have surgey to fix it. In retrospect, I should have gotten two popsicle sticks, stuck them in my nose, and have someone shove my nose back into place. YES...this works! and it is a lot less hassle than surgery. The good thing about boxing as a girl is the punches are less powerful and it is less likely to get seriously injured...
Oh......and boxers MUST be in TOP SHAPE.
Otherwise you will be helpless in rounds 2,3,4, and 5. At the amatuer level I will bet on a neebee in great shape rather than a good boxer in terrible shape..

I've been boxing for years. DO NOT have the bone aken out of your nose. It's not necessary. You can buy head gear that protects your face/nose. Your nose wil collapse without the bone in there!

LOL No, unless you already have some kind of pre-existing condition, you shouldn't need surgery on your nose if you want to box.
But some people need surgery on their nose AFTER they box. :-)

of course you don't NEED to have surgery on your nose to box. if your dad said that you absolutely need it then he;s dumb. but if you want to go through with it and your dad wants to waste that much money, then that's fine, it won't make you a better boxer though.

No, you don't need it taken out. Usually training in the gym is very light contact, even in sparring. You do not have to compete, many people go just because it is such a great workout. Even if you do want to compete and train hard, it is not a necessary procedure.

Either your dad is funning with you, or he is mistaken. I boxed for several years as an amateur, and I still have the cartilage in my nose.
