My wife and I have been on the Atkins Diet at least 3 times. We both lost weight. 2 weeks is just barely long enough to just begin losing weight. It requires that long to allow your body to adjust with the transition phase. Keeping carbs below about 25 gms.
Safe? Yes! But not very effective. Atkins should be a lifestyle change, Recently medical studies have indicated it is the best way to lose weight and have long term results. That is no Yo Yo bounce backs. That is if you keep the carbs down.

The Atkins Diet contrary to people's belief is the one and the same as the diet given to many hypoglycemics. I compared my diet I was prescribed for hypoglycemia to the Atkin's Diet book, the same but Atkins suggest whole grains over bleached and processed foods. It was also the same diet that got me back on track from anorexia. You are probably slowing down some as we all do when we diet. You will hit a plateau for awhile. And you need to keep the metabolism up as well as healthy eating habits so you don't regain the weight. That is where most end up packing the weight back on, they don't give their bodies a chance to catch up to the new lowered metabolism from dieting. And yes, muscle weighs more than fat. Depends on if you are wanting to lose the weight itself or just inches. Weight shifts on your body, I found out when I battled anorexia. Good luck and keep it up! You can do it! I forgot to add, most diets should be done no longer than two weeks at a time, rest your body a week, and then resume.

Most people's cholesterol goes down on Atkins. It's okay to do it for just two weeks, but it's much better as a lifestyle. (And yes, it's healthy over the long term.) Most of what you lose in the first two weeks will be water and will come right back when you go back to eating "normal."
At 5'0" and 120 you are a healthy weight already.
If you decide to try it, please read the book. So many people do it wrong because they never bother with the book.

yes it's definetly safe but not optimum for short term use.
if you only need to lose 5 lbs then carb cycling would be your best bet to drop some lbs in a short amount of time. just remember that rapid weight loss is almost always water weight and more than likely will return shortly after normal eating patterns are resumed

i tried this diet it really helps:
you have to do this for 5 days only then give a two day break (no less) if u want to do it another time which is five more days.....dont do it more than that or continously becuase it can lead to chronic extremely painful constipation or piles if over done (i.e no more than two times in a row i'm warning you...if u want to do it again...give yourself a real long break like a month or so and then do it again...if u do it continuously itll be really painfull...trust me i tried it..i was fine the first two times n then i got really painful constipation becuase of overdoing it) during the two day break eat normal high fiber lo calorie foods and avoid rice..u might get a mild case of constipation the first two times so make sure to drinkloads of warm water and take a mild laxative when u get constiopated and try to force the stools out cuz if u dont it might get worse n painful later..during ur two day break eat lots of green veggies esp spinach and guava fruit are excellent
now heres the diet:
eat 6 medium bananas and 3 cups low fat milk in 24 hrs (1 day) for five days...ure not allowed to taste anything else...
\
and i REPEAT dont do it more than two times in a row...wait a month at least before u try it again eat normal and light to maintain your weight...this is only a crash diet for losing weight quickly for special occassions
u will lose 1-2 kilos in five days(abt 2-4 pounds)
the next time u might lose 1-2 kilos or none at all depending on how your body responds to it....but u will lose a totalof five pounds in two weeks for sure.... but make sure not to eat anything fattening (no fats, sugar, rice ,mangoe, patotoes n melons) during your two day break or itll all come back..eat loads of fibre rich foods
