What is a "real Christian"?

I keep seeing this phrase, even in questions: "Real Christians only please".

How does one judge?

Who is qualified to judge?

What does it really mean?

.

It is just a semantic road block to keep supposed unreal Christians from answering the question.

Probably nearly 75% of the people who think they are Christian are probably not. Many think they are Christian because they were brought up in a Christian home, or because they attend some church, or because they have been baptized or said some prayer. This is not true. Only those who believe what the Bible says about Jesus and accept that as truth (Romans 10) and have been born again (John 3) are real Christians. The Bible is clear on this. This is not my opinion, its God's word.

You've just pointed out a major flaw in the Christian doctrine. There is no such thing as a non-judgment. The concept of non-judgment in a human society is an impossible ideal. It is incumbent on us to judge ourselves in order to govern ourselves. The idea of appealing to a "higher power" to dispense judgment in the afterlife is ludicrous. Civilization would collapse into anarchy.

The only reason the character of Christ could declare "do not judge" is because he had the luxury of being supernatural.

I agree with Father Guido...a "real Christian" is the person who believes exactly the same way somebody else does at exactly the same time they need them to. If most of those people actually got past a single question, they'd start disagreeing with each other, too.

Hi, I'm a Christian.

Christians have no right to judge, since we are all sinner and we could do nothing to earn our way into Heaven.

Romans 3:23 - For all have sinned and fall short of the glory of God.

God knew this and knew that we could never enter heaven like this, so he sent his son Jesus to die on the cross for our sins, paying our debt that we couldn't.

John 3:16 - For God so loved the world that he gave his only son, whoever believes on him shall not perish but have everlasting life.

Many people will try to get to Heaven on their own, by being good or doing good things, this is not enough.

Tit 3:5 not by works done in righteousness, which we did ourselves, but according to his mercy he saved us,

John 14:6 – Jesus said unto him, I am the way , and the truth and the life: no one comes to the Father, but by me.

God wants everyone to go to Heaven, the free gift of salvation is offered to all.

We are given free will, we can either accept that we are sinners and that Jesus died on the cross for our sins and go to Heaven, or we can reject this.

I'm so Thankful that Jesus died in my place and yours.

I think its great that you are seeking, the bible says, seek and you shall find.

I am catholic and my interpretation of a real Christian is someone who follows the teachings of Christ, and one that dose not judge others, and accepts and respects those that have other beliefs, I am of the belief that one should love God with all their mind, all their heart, and all their soul in what they perceive God to be, and that's what is important here.

Only God can look into the hearts of man and say who is a real christian and loves him. I can't tell you who a real christian is, but I can tell you who is not by listening and watching. A christian does not go out and sin one day, ask for forgiveness, committ the same sin the next day and the next because they think they can just go back and ask for forgiveness. A true christian will confess the sin and then stop doing it if in their heart they are truly sorry for it. True christians do not spread a message of hate as I have seen the infamous Phelps family do when it comes to homosexuals. They like to have kids hold up signs saying "Gays, God hates you, God is your enemy." God does not hate any of us he hates our sins and for them to spread such a message of hate tells me that they do not follow the true teachings of Jesus which is to love thy neighbor like you love thy self. Including homosexuals. True christians show the love of God and have a light about them that others see and want. However I have seen people who in my head I say are christians however like I said, I lack the ability to see into their hearts therefore I cannot say.

Well sometimes you get people saying things like Hitler was a Christian in order to put Christianity down. Obviously his behaviour was not indicative of one who has truly accepted Jesus Christ and his Lord and Savior. In this case, one could say that Hilter was not a real Christian.

Ultimately the judge is God and he says in his word, Matthew 7:21-23

Not every one that saith unto me, Lord, Lord, shall enter into the kingdom of heaven; but he that doeth the will of my Father which is in heaven. Many will say to me in that day, Lord, Lord, have we not prophesied in thy name? and in thy name have cast out devils? and in thy name done many wonderful works? And then will I profess unto them, I never knew you: depart from me, ye that work iniquity.

There will be some calling themselves Christians, who are not "real Christians."

My definition of a real christian is someone who knows the flaws and logical points of christianity, knows the flaws and logical points of other beliefs, and decides to follow christianity in every way possible. And then there's fundamentalists. *sigh* I was one once. Just one of those things you regret the rest of your life. Once I realized what I said I believed was not really what I believed, I decided to make my own religion. But that's another story.

I'm a believer/theist, and I still don't KNOW what a "Real" Christian is. But I do KNOW that I'm smoking a REAL cigarette at the moment.

*I'm still capitalizing certain words because of an answer to a previous question, if you're wondering.*
