You would be better off looking for a position as a trainee DBA to an existing single DBA within a large company. A good second skill to have would be OS administration or report writing abilities.
Redundancy is a goal that is frequently unmet in large organizations where single DBAs are frequently not busy enough to warrant another full timer, but have no coverage for vacation time.
Your best skill to claim would be that you work well with others and are looking forward to seeing your skills applied to real-world environments.

Your best bet might be looking for an unpaid internship. Your university career center should be able to help you in that regard. Also, for entry level database work, try the healthcare sector, specifically research. You can start as a project associate or data manager just to get some DB experience on your resume. Volunteering at a hospital for some time can get you experience as long as references.
