we're in the middle of a war; if you can walk and chew gum at the same time, the military will take you. the ability to think is a bonus.

As a member of the Air Force, I can tell you that it takes good ASVAB scores, a genuine belief in your own abilities, excellent physical fitness (our PT test requirements are harder that the Army!) and the willingness to listen and follow orders. Gone are the days of the "Chair Force" and everyday more and more Airmen are deployed into combat situations right alongside our fellow Soldiers, Seamen, and Marines. If you're really interested, look at http://usmilitary.about.com . Also, consider the AF Reserve or Air National Guard if you're looking at going to college and would like some help paying for it.
Integrity First, Service Before Self, Excellence In All We Do.
These are the words the Air Force lives by. Be sure that you can live by them too. I see way too many young Airmen that can't and end up getting booted for breaking the rules. Remember, it's the military, not just another job. Be sure before you sign that piece of paper.
Good Luck.
A KC-135 Crew Chief

Take the ASVAB for the Air Force first and then see where they will put you after you find out what you score..
First is the ASVAB..then depending on what it is you score you will be send to Boot Camp and then the appropriate school for your field..It can be computers, it can be office work, (a friend of mine is in the AF) he was at the Pentagon during 9/11)...they will place you accordingly in the us or around the world somewhere where they think you would be needed.

You will take a test called the ASVAB. This will determine what you will do in the Air Force as a job. Check out this website for more info.

half of these people have no clue what they are talking about. The Air Force is the most strict branch of them all, they will dig into your past like nothing else. Any medical, criminal, and drug history will most likely "disqualify" you but you can obtain waivers. You do in USAF what your ASVAB scores qualify for. It's like any other job, you have responsibilities and are expected to follow up on it

along with a decent ASVAB score, you'll need a clean bill of health, no history with cops, normal mental health, and a decent personality.
if you want to be a PILOT for the air force, forget about the ASVAB, go to college and join AROTC. but before you do that, contact an air force officer recruiter.
