The 5.4 uses regular unleaded as per your owners manual:
(87 octane) only supercharged (ie Lightning) requiire 91 octane.
Here's the free downloadable owners manual for your '03 F150: (see page 236)

You don't tell us whether it is 4X4 or not, so you can look up any vehicles E.P.A. fuel economy rating at :

my 2004 f-150 crew cab is giving me around 14-16 mpg hwy
and you should use 87 octane. if you drive below 65 mph you get better gas mileage , it sucks now especialy with all those hi gas prices eh. the guy who changes the gas prices at my local gas station now lives up there , he does not comes down only to go to the bathroom and he goes back up there to change the price again , LOL

Specfications call for 91 octane on 2WD, and 87 on 4WD. Mileage varies extremely and I couldnt give you a good estimate. 4WD would be a bit normal. Most of my customers say aprox 14 to 16 city, 16 to 18 hwy.

It requiers regular grade gas do not use premium your only wasting your money and since the truck is not set up for it it will actually run worse and poor mileage unless you supercharge it of course.
