Global Warming is phenomenon that has happened through out the earth's history, man wasn't even around when the deserts in Saudi Arabia happened, just like there will be ice sheets covering the land from time to time there were hot points in time like now. What makes me mad is that it's the persons that most pollute the enviroment like politicians and the Hollywood crowd with their expensive gas wasting toys like planes and boats and big mansions that are now screaming about global warming
As for china dying of hunger, that happened in the sixties, that's why china started forcing their citizens to have one child per couple, they alone know the danger of overpopulation, their citizens outgrew their country's ability to keep up with their food supply, something that our leaders don't want to face because they are afraid to tell mostly minorities enough is enough

Theories include the spinning of the planet stopping, possibly causing or being caused by the motlen iron core solidifying. This would remove the magentic field that deflects cosmic and solar radition, leaving the atmosphere open.

The cosmic and solar winds eradicated the atmosphere and evaporated everything. However, it is possible that the process caused extreme geographical temperature differences due to different surface exposures from the shape of the sphere, causing a very quick freezing at the poles that would have trappe CO2 and H2O.

We don't know for sure that Mars is warming. What we do know is that the southern polar ice cap is melting but - and this is often conveniently overlooked - the north polar ice cap is freezing and expanding.

We suspect there may be two other planets and one moon in our solar system where warming is occuring. We know for a fact that it's not because of the sun, if it were then the other 167 planets and moons would also be warming - they're not.

Mars and the other solar bodies are completely different to Earth, ours is the only planet which is remotely habitable and has a breathable atmosphere.Mars for example has one thousandth the atmosphere we do and it's almost all carbon dioxide. Whatever is happening on the other moons and planets is unique to them.

We suspect the warming on Mars (if proven) is caused by global dust storms that engulf the entire planet for days at a time. If such storms existed on Earth they would put so much dust into the atmosphere that our climate would also be affected.

I suspect the other responces did not read the question, so they miss the point.

I suspect is, where does the CO2 come from?

On earth, it mostly comes from animal life, but yes, man's activities also has effect.

The biggest effect is the cutting down of trees. Trees are to the Tropic Age (which we are now in) what ice caps are to the Ice Age (which we are getting rid of the final fingers of, slowly.

On mars, with out the use of plants to break the carbon off the O2, then I suppose it is the natural chemcal attraction between O2 and C. I would hope so, as that means we could establish a very good O2 mining process, using plants, when we go there, so long as Bush does not close that off for us as well.

There is no global warming on Mars. Look it up yourself.

I could write up a nice, well thought out reply explaining what I'm talking about, but I know you'd just ignore it and very probably turn around and use the exact same argument again anyways, as you contrarians are wont to do. So I won't bother.

Global warming IS a cyclical event on any planet where it is conducive to such meteorological change. The problem is that MAN - during 150 years of our Industrial Revolution - has interfered with the natural order of things. As we speed up the process with smoke-belching factories and vehicle emissions that pollute the air and water, the natural order of everything is upset. And that affects the polar ice caps, ocean life, isolated tribes of native human beings who don't live in our 'contemporary' world, plants, and animal life. We fail to recognize the fragile ecological balance between man, plants and animals that is so necessary for all of us to survive on this Earth. If we keep destroying rain forests, depleting the oceans, and using up all of Earth's natural resources at such alarming rates, we will NOT survive. -RKO- 05/13/07

mars has a completly different climate than that of earth. Mars could warm simply because Mars has a higher methane count than earth (which is a greenhouse gas). Also, Mars northern ice cap is expanding, while it's southern is melting...odd isn't it?

Mars does not have an atmosphere so there is no global warming. Are you sure you dont meen Venus.

who has decided that the 2 phenomina have to be related .

the main disagreements are as to who or what is responsible

some still believe that nothing is wrong ,they will also be convinced when the price of food and beer hits the roof ,because of third world problems in food production and Global potable water shortage

as for the rest of us ,
can we do something about it?
I dont think so ,but we can behave more responsibly in out behaviour towards the Environment ,maybe we can buy some time

are We responsible ?
or is it God who wants to punish?
or is it Gaia who wants to clean some parasitic infestation?
who cares ? that is not important any more

WHAT IS -is that we are gonna be in trouble

The Earth has many problems because of man
this is undeniable ,how much we are responsible for Global warming is debateble ,But there is a definate change in Global temperatures that is affecting nature in a bad way.

this text only covers some aspects of Climate change ,i.e.effects of deforestation and subsequent man made desertification ,because of irresponsible farming using chemicals ,over pumping carbon aquiferrs, over grazing and deforestation

water and air polution such as caused by
industrial contamination ,the contaminating effects of the cities(the internal combustion engine) ,are other stories,

and all of these are also man made ,such as the high industrial chimneys pumping contamination into the clouds and the burning of tires, some of this polution has been found in the ice in the polar regions

there are natural cycles in the planets life
but a lot is influenced by mans existance ,and this is increasing with overpopulation, putting strains on Natural resources and increasing contaminations as well as destructions of essential componants the ensure living conditions for all life forms

the thinner ozone layer helps to speed this up.and this is caused mainly by air polution ,also as a result of mans actions

in North Africa,India,Mexico ,millions of people are effected by land loss and desertification and some have died as a result,

And now many animals are becoming sick because of changes in temperature ,
vital links in the food chains are disapearing affecting other species further along in the chain

90% of the feral (wild) bee population in the United States has died out.

In the Netherlands bee diversity is down 80 percent in the sites researched, and "bee species are declining or have become extinct in Britain."

wildflowers that depend on pollination have dropped by 70 percent

we are witness to a mass exstinction ,for the first time since the dinosaurs, of the earth's estimated 10 million species, 300,000 have vanished in the past 50 years. each years, 3,000 to 30,000 species become extinct.

everything is happening so fast it is not possible to monitor things any more.

,the Sahara is growing by 7 kilometers a year
and most of the desserts we know are a results of mans actions ,and they are increasing ,not getting less ,in the dinosaurs days ,there were few desserts.

collectively this planet is drying up ,

each degree rise in temperature means 10%crop loss

and there is less and less water (because of deforestation),to irrigate this production ,
and there are less and less farmers to do it..
Arable lands and their farms are lost all over the globe. Many farmers sons abandon farming and head for the cities.

Northern China is drying up, what once were millions of food producing people, are now hungry refugees ,running for their lives from the all consuming dust storms.
This will have a great effect on world food prices when they start buying at what ever cost, to feed their people.

The farmers that are left have to feed some 70 million more people than the year before but with less topsoil.

Over the last half century,
Population growth & rising incomes have tripled world grain demand from 640 million tons to 1,855 million

In the near future the global farming community will not be able to feed every body ,food prices will continue to rise. .

RISING SEAS
The northpole is melting ,and we will know it without ice in our life times.
this does not affect the sea level because it is ice that is already in the water.but the melting ice from Green land and the south pole ,are another matter

here are a 100 ways to help

Global warming is caused by natural processes. Global warming up to the temperatute that's going to get us in deep trouble is caused by man's activities added to the natural processes.
