I actually have a guy that active in the air force. Luckily he's on base right now stateside but he's heading back over seas for tour number, not 1, not 2, not 3, but FOUR next year. I am by far the queen of the care package and know what a huge effect that has. A wise person told me early on in our relationship that nothing feels better then hearing your name called during mail call and nothiing worse then when other guys get something and yours doesn't. Find out the little things he likes and send send away. And do NOT forget to send pictures of yourself..provocative ones if you feel up to it! Also, make sure to send him some of your panties...he'll be SO excited. Oh and of course send some candy or something for him to share w/the rest of the guys!!

Against what is said above, do not get him a pistol. Everyone in the Air Force has to use the issued sidearm, and can not use their own. I recommend getting him the USAF commissioned Officer's Saber. Go to http://www.militarysabers.com/air-force-sword.html.

If the new officer is a pilot, a decent pistol - the M9s don't have a lot of stopping power and many carry their own, higher caliper, pistol.
