Rules of engagement would be no more, the fact that dousing a towelhead in pig's blood usually causes them to surrender would be taken advantage of; they can't go to heaven if they die unclean. I may even take it one step further and release videos of towelheads covered in pig's blood being executed, with the message "behave or we send you to hell."

I'd do a slow roll.
Here is what the situation looks like now:

I would move as many willing Iraqi troops to the southern providence as needed and then turn that providence over to Iraq. That would leave 13 providences still basically in U.S. hands.

Then I would put 3,000 U.S. troops in those providences and keep training and supplying the local Iraqs. In May of next year, the Iraqi soldiers should be trained and equipt enough to do a take and hold. The Iraqi soldiers would take the more peaceful areas first and the 3,000 soldiers would then act as a battering ram to break though the hostile forces while the Iraqs in the rear hold the land behind the American troops.
Then I'd hand the providences back to the Iraqis. Since taking the men away for training might leave the tribes vunerable, I'd seriously think about training the women to be the soldiers.

As far as Baghdad goes, that still leaves 100,000 U.S. troops to train and guard sensitive areas. I'd drop the patroling and let the militas duke it out in the other parts of the area. I think sometime next May the U.S. would have enough trained Iraqis to do a clear and hold (with the Iraqis holding).

I'd also stop the breaks for all those Iraqis. I've never heard of the French resistance taking vacations during WWII.

Surrender is never an option for this country. We need to take and hold every inch of the border territory. A few observers manning satellite imagery could prevent much of what is going on there. Heat sensing equipment could detect movements that require attention. Time for the generals to stop playing games and use the technology that is available to get out. As President I would tell both Iran and Syria that any weapons found that could be traced back to them would be grounds for the elimination of the facility that made the weapons. Only tough action can end that mess favorably.

1. Pull the regular Army back to Kuwait to ensure a lower profile but be available if needed.
2. Increase greatly the size of Special Operations Command and let their generals make the tactical decisions and decide manning levels in Iraq rather then the Secretary of Defense.
3. Provide a lot of money to the Iraqi government specifically for infrastructure use and for them to hire security contractors until they can weed out the anti-sectarians from their police and army.
4. Seal off the Syrian border with mines.
5. Cut a deal with Iran.
6. Let the Iraqis resolve their civil war but counter any outside supplies to radical Islamacists and Sunni insurgents with weapons to the government.
7. Destroy the Taliban in Pakistan (Iraq is just a part of the war against radical Islam) even if that means covertly hiring and training an army of Pakistanis to operate in the tribal areas even if the Pakistani army tries to stop them.
8. Covertly open Arab-run news stations in Arab countries to counter the current propaganda.

First, I would take back a lot of the troops that we have over there. We don't need to keep the peace if we do what I propose next so they won't be needed. Now we should send the extra troops home now so they can be with their families. Families are the most important, not war.

My next move would be to round up all resistence cells within Iraq. If they're hiding in a village and no one wants to tell me where they are, I'll do what the Russians did when one of their own is slaughtered in a village with hostiles, burn it. I know there'll be a lot of deaths but doing this will add to the resolve that we want this mess over with. No one will resist us if they know we're ready to do anything to end this.

After we round up all the people in Iraq who've risen against the US, we give the power over to the Iraqi government and give all assurances that if they have a problem, just give us a call. Along with the above move, we would remove all presence of military personnel from Iraq and leave it. If there's another problem, we'll send in a platoon to eradicate the problem but other than that, they can keep the peace themselves. They don't need us to hold their hands.

We'll do a checks and balances system on their government regularly to make sure everything's ok and no one's seized power. Keep good economical ties with the nation and make sure no one bothers to bully it. That's where our tactical weapons and defenses come in when necessary. If we have a problem and the troops aren't enough, cruise missile or fuel-air bomb. Problem solved

I would declare martial law, if your on the streets after 5 p.m. you get killed. I would invite Russia, and China into help, with areas and let them have total control over there areas. I would make it truly an international event. I would also have Iran, and the other area countries have a say in the rebuilding. Then I would take that spineless coward Bush and all his cabinet and drop them in the worst part of Iraq, and let them see how well they do.

I would loosen the restrictions on the troops and allow them to do their jobs. I would want a comprehensive plan in place with goal dates to return and restore Iraq to it's rightful people. I would ensure that my soldiers, airmen, sailors, and marines had the proper equipment and training to get the job done as safely as possible.

If you can understand the Islamic religion, you would readily come to the conclusion that there is no winning in Iraq, therefore, the best and only action if for the U.S. to pull out and leave Iraq to the Iraqis.

Win in Iraq? I think first we need to figure out what winning is?

There is no way to win in Iraq.

The Iraqi government will not allow us to do so!

They even now want to take a vote to have America leave their country and If that vote passes it will give Bush a very well needed excuse to remove our troops while they are in one piece!

HOORAY FOR THE GOOD GUYS!!!!!!!!
