i just want you opinions biased or not about these 2(and only these 2) languages please dont add a third.

As someone who's "learning" both, (I lived in Quebec most of my life and now live in the German part of Switzerland with my French-speaking husband and kids) I think I prefer German. I don't like how I personally pronounce French, and I've always had a sense that German is "socially" easier. (That's probably because of where/how.when I've learned them both.) German has cooler grammar too, declensions and word order. French grammar is all about conjugation, so that gets old. Vocab-wise, French is easier, but again German is cooler, because often German words have an old-fashioned equivalent in English (French words on the other hand have a high-faluting equivalent in English). Spelling-wise, German is WAY easier.

French:300 millions people
German:120 millions.
French spoken on the five continents , German only in Europe.
German is declining while French is more and more taught.
For you as an English-speaking person, you'll be understood with English in German-speaking countries (Austria,Germany) but there are countries where French is spoken but not English (Algeria, Morocco , Madagascar, large parts of Africa and so on...).
French ranks second or third international language (German maybe tenth...)
So I'd say go for French et bonne chance à toi!

I think you should learn german cuz it's just awesome. i've take 4 years in it already cuz that's how much i love it! plus it's waaay easier. it sounds kinda like english and the word order is pretty simple. it's easy to pick up and German also has a cool culture.
French was too hard... didn't like it as much... plus if you travel to europe for fun and to practice, germans love when you try to learn thier language, but alot of french people are sorta snooty (no offense to the french :P) and tend to look down on you.

Learn german it's grammer is similar to English but French has silent Z's I couldn't handle that. French is the hardest language in the world to read. Trust me learn german

It depends on why you are learning it.. DO you plan to travel or work in an area where you'd need to know another language? I know both French and English myself. Spanish I know enough to ask for basic things and to share pleasantries. It's more a matter of which you want to learn and why,

French!!!!! But that is a personal opinion!! I'm taking french cuz i enjoy french literature! But you should research the countries and see which culture appeals to you more!! Here is a link to a quiz to see which language you should take! i doubt its accurate, but hey! why not take it!

I beleive you would get more use out of french then german. Besides what girl dosn't like the sound of french : )

I would pick french cause it sounds smoothly when spoken right . German sounds sooo harsh when spoken and choppy . I love french and it is pretty also to listen to . Calming soothing .
