I have explored the areas of this answer site - here is the worst.
That's not a reflection on you lot, merely the subject at hand. No, I don't mean religion x is evil because of y and z. I mean that, religion, politics, and philosophy by their very natures are topics which people tend to have strong opinions on. The thing is when you're dealing with lots of strong opinions, it's all too easy to get into a heated argument relatively quickly.

Perhaps people resort to rudeness because they cannot understand those who appear to them to be normal people but have been drawn in by others to believe in and pray to an entity that has never been proved to exist, and whenever anyone questions their beliefs, become defensive. I take this defensiveness to indicate that they are`nt sure the entity they pray to, exists. When their entity allows an innocent child to be abducted with all the implications of such a disappearance. Their answer? you must pray, what? it is like reporting the teacher who is caning you to the teacher who is caning you. Not much point believing if ones entity does nothing.

Yes I am afraid so, many religions attacking others, aethists behaving equally as arrogantly...so many people focussing on attacking others rather genuinely seeking truth. However I must say that at the same time there are questions on this site that are awesome and some of the answers can be fascinating.

Yes some people don't look at what they write. Of lump people together. Like implying that Christians are here just for guidance and atheist are here just to mock faith. That's a bit rude and not at all true. I try to be polite. but sometimes when I see what someone writes or how bigoted some people are,,,, It makes me upset. But I try to ignore it. And focus on the few that are not so bigoted.

No, sometimes it gets worse!
The problem is that most of the rude people are American Adolescents who can't be expected to be any different. Its just the same on X Box!
You just have to give them time. That way they will eventually learn to integrate with Civilised Society or they will Die of Drugs trying!

Yes. If you want real answers to genuine questions you're better finding a moderated site somewhere else.
The religion section is particularly bad - gratuitous insulting seems to be the norm.

Don't encourage them by asking real questions :(

It is ironic, I think, that if you want to share views on religion or spirituality you get dogmaed to death. Not a "good thing," as Martha Stewart would say. Don't let it bring you down. There are some wonderful folks here too.

The more unworldly folk find any contrary views "rude". To have your opinions strongly challenged is more beneficial than hiding in a book.

Honey, it's like everywhere else in the world. Nice people are always going to be nice and rude people never change.
