Unfortunately, tribalism trumps ethics.

Same reason black leaders don't take a significant role in stopping other blacks from using the "N" word even as they go ballistic over a non-black person from using the same word.

Same reason a union worker won't cross a picket line, even if they disagree with the reason for the strike.

Same reasons cops protect their own first. (Just watch any cop show, and see how fast cops react to "officer down" vs. other responses)

Same reason family protects family

Generally, one protects their "tribe" first, then apply consideration to the larger community. Unfortunately, when it comes to religion, this tribe trumps nationalism or local community.

Not saying it's wrong or right, but it is the reason.

There are things being done at a local level but there are things that must be considered. There is a particular radical group that have very little access to local mosques but are in every university. This is not all one way, a certain London cleric was known to be delivering fire-brand sermons, The Mi5 knew this, interviewed him and told him as long there is not blood on the streets they wouldn't do anything to him.

Most of these radical clerics are coming from the Wahhabi school of thought which is being funded by petrol dollars. The majority cannot compete with free literature.

This is not clear cut by any means, at the same time other countries must not facilitate radical thought by using the media humiliate Muslims. If a country want to end terrorism its done by not participating in it, in the first place.

I live in the Us and am not exposed to any extremist muslims. But the internet brings out all kinds of people. I even saw a christian calling for crusades and some people were agreeing with him! The first time I even talked to a muslim extremist directly was a few days ago when I came upon one on youtube. So I sent him an email proving to him that he was wrong. He replied with a long message but I refuted all what he said. So he sent another small one and then I refuted that too. He hasn't replied yet but I seriously hope that I can change his mind.

Okay, I am not a Muslim but this kind of question just drives me nuts.
Think about it, what is the definition of terrorist??
What part of that is reasonable? What makes you think anyone can reason with them, make them understand anything beyond their desire to terrorize and inflict harm on others?
Why is it that people continue to think that we can deal with the unreasonable, irrational in a peaceful an tolerant way and that will magically change them??

I am not saying that it is impossible for one that is a terrorist to change but how many innocent people are going to have to die while we put away our guns , pass out flowers and peacefully attempt to persuade these people that their way is wrong??
Blaming the terrorism on non terrorists not doing their part. Yeah , what a movement that will be- think about what you are saying and make an attempt to be a reasonable and rational thinking person.

I don't blame you, if the media gave less attention the likes of Al-Mahjaroun and Hizb-ut-Tahrir, more to what real Muslim were doing then maybe the West would notice. Here is an example:

The ONLY way to stop Muslims becoming terrorists is to actually teach them about Islam. For example in the UK people just learn how to read Arabic and once that's done they eave their studies, they don't have any idead of what they are reading.

They don't study the hadith.

not in basic terms Muslims yet most of the international believes what we've completed and are doing to human beings in different international places is the embodiment of terrorism. purely take Iraq as an occasion, 1000's of thousand of harmless civilians have been killed on condition that we went in under the fake pretenses of going after Al-Qaeda. Or the weapons and money we grant Israel to bloodbath the Palestinians and imprison them of their concentration camps. That being reported, this would not justify in any way Islamic terrorism which maximum knowledgeable Muslims would be the 1st and loudest to sentence.

The Muslim terrorists are not Muslim. They do not follow Islam the way that we Muslims in the normal world follow. They follow everything that appeals to them and discard what they don't want. So, according to me the terrorists who say they are Muslim are not, they follow their own religion. People should understand that these people are taught to kill from the time they are born. For them killing is like watching T.V. . They are abnormal people. If they have to be stopped, one has to get rid of the person spreading this rubbish and then Inshallah everything will stop.

Well i don't have a direct line to terrorists do you?
I don't know any terrorists do you?

Any Muslim knows terror is not part of the faith they don't need anyone telling them.

What exactly do you suggest i as a Muslim do? I will not refer to myself as a "non terrorist Muslim" because it ridiculous to think that just because someone is of the Islamic faith that terror either for or against is part of there daily life, its not.

Is terror part of your daily life?

You assume a lot that Muslims know terrorist, that Muslims can persuade terrorists to do anything.

Can you persuade your biggest terrorist Bush to stop killing Iraqi citizens men, women and children?
Could you have persuaded Tim McVay ?
Did you know Tim? NO? So how could you have stopped him?

I dont know terrorists so tell me how do i stop them?

Now, is it really pc calling these people 'non terrorist' it is rather implying that the majority are terrorists.
And I think muslims do not really associate with terrorists, if I saw a bloke blow a building up I wouldn't give a damm about his religion I'd stay away.

I sometimes wish that those terrorists would use net ,watch Tv and read newpaper daily then they would get a clear idea that we muslims have rejected them long ago...we do condemn them daily and we do not oc sider them as a part of my community...but the problem is IF they could listen to us Somehow !! And secondly they do not bother whether muslims like them or not..they do this for their political aganda and using the name of religion as a justification for their evil actss ! they don't care abot muslim's feelings at all !

There's your answer then.. the so-called 'peaceful muslims' are too craven to act! Of course they could influence even fanatical rabid fundamentalist islam collectively politically and economically- if they had the will. On that basis, they are part of the problem not the solution.By their tacit approval of terrorism, they condone bombing, maiming, torture and the rape of women and children and seek to impose these perverted views on western democracy in the name of their damned 'faith'
