Throw a hint....something like "Most girls like this cd. Does your gf like it?" He'll either say "No she doesn't/Yes she does" or "I don't have a gf." OR, you could take the easy way out and have someone else ask him.

if you are not invited to his home, there is a problem. if he wants to "meet" somewhere else all of the time, ask him why? also his friends will tell you,eventually. i know cause it happend to me.
