I agree with other two below - Are you using a different key for ignition? The theft control module and the key does not jive and you will need to take it to the dealer to get the TCM reprogrammed for your key

Something set off your security system, which in turn disabled your engine starting system. Contact your dealership and have them walk you through the steps on resetting the security system in your vehicle. Its a pain when this happens but at least you know your engine demobilizer works. This happened on my 1996 Jeep Grand Cherokee, and the solution was as simple as locking all the doors and then unlocking the driver's side door with the key. But I'm not positive on that same procedure working on GM products.

Have you got a real key in the ignition or did you have one made? Many newer cars have chips in them and though you can get a duplicate made at any key shop all the key will do for you is unlock doors and sometimes the car will start but will not let you put it in drive.. that is the security in the real key. You have to go to the dealership and get a duplicate made if you want to drive the car. This happened with my son's car last year it was a real puzzlement until we figured it out!

By chance are you using a different key than normally used? Some keys have chip in them, or is the key been damage, if not,
You need to call a tow truck, go to the dealer, it's possible the will just need to reprogram your vehicle theft deterrent module or a repair made be required. good luck.

The "security" light, as in someone set off your alarm? Check your manual. Your car may have an anti-theft system that disables the engine if the alarm is tripped, even if the alarm is no longer going off. The manual will tell you how to deactivate the alarm system's engine override.

sounds to me like your "vehicle immobilizer" was triggered. you will probably have to take back to the dealer to get it replaced or reset.
