I don't remember where I heard this but apparently ancient Irish/Scottish people would swallow oats without chewing them and drink water afterwards. The water would enlarge the oats and they would feel more full in their stomachs than if they simply ate the oatmeal regularly. They did this because they didn't have enough food to eat and didn't want an empty stomach. I wonder if people could lose weight this way today? Or is this even true?

It is rue. But also if you cook the oatmeal with milk or water it will help the same way. It helps to clean your system and keep the triglyceride(cholesterol) down.

Why swallow oatmeal when you can enjoy it at its full??? You can either cook it (in milk or, if you want it with less calories, in water) or mix it with many things, your usual cereal bowl for example, or yogurt, salads, and many other things.
