This is a subject that I feel very strongly about, and feel that my church is completely ignoring by its continued ban on birth control. This is one issue on which I openly defy my church. Not only do I use birth control and advocate others to do so, but am also an advocate of the childfree movement. I can't, in good conscience, speak out about the dangers of overpopulation while having children myself. I will never have children. Christians are called upon to be good stewards of God's creation, and overpopulating the earth is hardly a good example of taking care of the planet that God gave us.

Well I don’t know of a “Christian” position on overpopulation. But then again as I look around I don’t see overpopulation as a problem. A few third world countries where the government is more concerned with maintaining control than fostering a self-sustaining society notwithstanding.

IF it becomes a problem God will sort it out by His own methods; disease, pestilence and war being the big three.

Note to solarius: Those of us who maintain a sane outlook on life thank you. Less Leftist wing-nuts would definitely benefit this world.

Overpopulation is a myth. This planet could easily support ten times its current population if 5% of the planet's people didn't consume 80% of the planet's resources. Also, virtually every country in Europe is currently below replacement level, which means in effect that Europeans are dying out. Every year there are fewer native Europeans than there were the previous year. Europe and some other parts of the world are experiencing a population implosion, not explosion.

I do not have a Christian position on it, only a political one at this point and it involves global warming.

There is no such thing as overpopulation.
If it is too crowded where you are living, move.
