I've seen this claim like 2 times in 30 seconds.
How do you calculate that?
It seems to me that the only way to arrive at that claim is to count all versions of the Bible as one bible, and if that's so, shouldn't all versions of other things be considered?
Like the story of a child who finds he has powers and is underappreciated.... all the Harry Potter books and a bajillion fantasy novels would count as that? Do you think they collectively outsell the Bibles collectively?

Could you cite a source for the claim? Preferably a source which defines what it means by the Bible?

That website doesn't define what version of the Bible is best selling. Lets just say there are seven versions in all of time and they were equally distributed in number (Grossly over simplifying) by that definition, the works of Perry Rhodan oversell it.

Count the number of Bibles you've owned, and then the number of fiction books. If variations on a story count as the same story, what percentage of your books are the Bible and what percentage are the fiction story? For me, the Bibles are like .0001% of the books I've owned in my life, and like .000000000001% of the books in the library.

That may be true, as there is technically only one version.

Nah, the bible still wins, because it's been used for school, and the versions are similar enough to make it count. Even so, there are claims that even the magical comes from the bible so it still wins =/

The Holy Bible and the Holy Quran have been placed in the heart of man.
Why is it that so few humans have gone into the inner heart
and read what has been placed there by God?
If man reads the inner version of both books then man will come to an understanding, that they are both gifts from the same (God or Allah).
And they are both on Gods best seller list!

They could. But in the end you would have to count every version of the bible as a different kin of book being sold since they all disagree with each-other. Christians just like to say that to prove a point.

The New York Best Seller list and other best seller lists conveniently leave the bible off the list. I guess they don't find this important or relevant to the world today. How misguided is that?

The Bible is the best-selling book in the world, it was the first book printed in movable type, people have died to protect it, people have tried to destroy it, the Bible is the most loved book in the world, and also the most hated book in the world.

I think the Bible is the biggest selling book simply because it has been around for so long.
Was it the biggset selling book in 2006 ? I think not.

It's because 65% of copies are not actually "sold" but given away free. Many people buy for using bible as toilet papers in some countries too.

Yes, it is. Just think of how many churches there are, and how many people are Christians. Compare that to the number of Harry Potter fans there are. Christians > Harry Potter fans.

I have a KJV of the Bible in my bookcase, which is full of Wicca, new age and related subjects... It was given to me by a Bible Bashing cousin of mine some 40years ago.. I keep it so as I can pull the pi*s out of it, of which I do...
I reckon you are right in your hypothesis...
