The main reason you should not eat before you go to bed is because of significant weight gain, but this is being widely disputed at the moment.
The common belief is that when the body sleeps and is less active, all of its processes slow down. So if you have food in you, the calories will not be burned off...they will instead be stored as fat. However, this all depends on what you eat and when. If you eat three hours before, you will have digested most of it by the time you go to bed, so it wouldn't be much of a bother by that time. Keep in mind that no matter what time of day it is, no matter how active you are, almost anything that is not burned off is stored as fat. As long as you don't cram your face full of a dozen jelly donuts before you go to bed, which WILL lead to significant weight gain, you should be fine. And if you eat up to 3 hours before, its nothing much to worry about. Just don't eat alot, and don't eat anything heavy in carbs (coming from my friend, who has a BA in Sports Med).
Keep in mind that different people will have different answers for this...and many different theories are correct. Just remember that it all depends on what you eat, how much you eat during the day, and what kind of health you are currently in. If you take care of your body and watch what you eat, I honestly would not worry about it. I eat bad food before I go to sleep all the time, and I still maintain a very healthy body and average, non-fat weight.

It doesn't matter if you eat before bed. The problem is WHAT you eat before bed. If you have an apple and string cheese or something along that line, great!! Just don't have a bowl of ice cream or candy bar or some other junk.
I always eat (at least) one protein item, sometimes even a fruit before bed. The protein helps get me through the night without feeling hungry.

even tho you never axually came around to asking a question hear i can tell you that you shouldent eat aney food high in carbs 6 hours before bed because that dosent give you time to burn them off before you go to bed and they just turn into stored suggar while you sleep, the best thing to eat after 7 would be somthing high in fiber to keep to fealing full all night

Different theories on that one. One part says consuming earlier than going to mattress interrupts the circadian cycle of your frame when you consider that it is busy digesting and does not permit you to entirely relaxation. The different part says that's a fable. Personally, whilst I devour closely, I uncover I get up with luggage beneath my eyes and I think gradual. Important query is how do YOU think should you devour closely after which pass to mattress? If you are nice, then do not fear approximately it.

hey! :)
well, to my mind, i'd advise you to eat dairy products, cause its said to help you sleep. ok, maybe not chees, like camenbert or brie, but a glass of milk, or a yogurt are said to be good.
whats good too, can be a tea, such as a tisane or an infusion. with calming plants: camilla, vanilla etc.. for exmaple, don't eat after having watched much tv, cause u'll be excited and if you eat, it ll double your excitement. but if you eat, after read, or listen to slight music, or do something calm. its gonna be fine!
well, eating before bed isn't that bad. i can't sleep without having eaten something. or i'll be so hungry i cant sleep.
bye!

Not eating after a serten time just keeps you from munching late at night.
So then you don't add more calories to what you already had durring the day.

It doesn't matter when you eat as long as its the right foods and depends on what you had earlier in the day.

Diets and calories. Calories do not know what time it is, the rest of the food is time deaf also.
