Legit question and I'm not poking fun. So like...it seems the average cliche that 'oh god' is called out during sex. If you don't believe in anything, what do you say? Do you still say it just cause...it's something you say...or do you just not say anything like that at all? Or well...rather than say...moan? lol.

As an agnostic, I still say "Oh God" or "Oh Jesus" or variations on that theme, in the context of exasperation. It's just something to say, and Christianity is part of the culture where I live, I don't mind that. Anyway arguably it's less "bad" for me than for a Christian, as I'm under no obligation to refrain from vain usage of the name of a hypothetical god.
Anyway I can't imagine that any atheists are going to stop using "goodbye" anytime soon, even though it is a contraction of "God be with ye". Like it or not, Christian expressions are part of the history of the English language.

"Atheists" is the plural of atheist.

I call out my lover's name (see, that means possessive), or various noises indicating my approval. If an atheist does call out God, it should be noted that God has become an expression in our society that is not explicitly religious. I don't think that when religious people have sex they are literally trying to get God's attention (quite the contrary...). Likewise, when you say "God dammit" after falling down the stairs, you are not actually asking God to curse gravity to an eternity in hell. You are just frustrated. As an atheist I've tried to purge all words with a religious connotation from my vocabulary (that is, miracle, blessing, etc), but not everyone feels this is important.

Anyway, you know the sex is really good when you call out something contrary to your belief system.

The other person's name would be the most common answer.

Why do christians call out to god? Would you like it if he showed up in the middle?

Ideally, coherent speech at that point should be impossible. If I can plan the content of my moans, something is terribly, terribly wrong.

Cindy F -- *lol* I have to admit, that was funny as hell!

Well if we do say *oh god* it could mean any number of god's...not just the christian version...Zeus, Thor, Mithras...what do christians say??? Isn't calling out your god's name in that manner considered blasphemy?

well personally... the person I'm with has a name, so that's what I would use. additionally, the use of "oh god" doesn't connotate religious belief; it has its own inherent value as a standalone expression.
