BRONCHITIS itself is contagious. It is typically a viral infection, and just like the flu can be spread from person to person. You need to take the same measures as you wood to keep someone else from getting a cold or the flu, such as washing your hands often, limiting exposure to other people, etc.
ASTHMATIC bronchitis however, is referring to exacerbation (aggravation) of bronchitis due to the pt. having asthma, and asthma itself is not contagious.
Therefore, bronchitis IS contagious, but you can not specifically pass on asthmatic bronchitis, because the "asthmatic" in asthmatic bronchitis is due to the patient him/herself.

If the bronchitis is of bacterial origin, then it can be passed on. The asthma part is an individual reaction to the bronchitis, so for that reason it is not contagious.
