I'm in Peru, and may have to visit a hospital. Can this be charged to Medicare?

I not sure. You really need to check with that country to know the requirements to enter. Many do not acknowledge Medicare and require proof of Medical Care or a set amount of money per day to cover medical expenses. I try to find you a link.

MEDICAL INSURANCE: The Department of State strongly urges Americans to consult with their medical insurance company prior to traveling abroad to confirm whether their policy applies overseas and whether it will cover emergency expenses such as a medical evacuation.

I don^t know about foreign countries, but in some of the other states it is allowed. For instance, I^m from Michigan and live in south Texas 5 months out of the year. The bill was paid. Not as much as I would like because it wasn^t my home state. I do not think this is accepted outside of the U.S.
