So I have this really good friend named Jake. He recently just wrote me a poem, confessing how he's in love with me. However, I have a boyfriend, and he knows it.
I told my best friend about it, and she's telling everybody about what Jake did. Now Jake is really angry with me and I don't know how to fix it. I want Jake and I to be friends but now things are awkward and he's pissed.
What do you all think?

Well,
Under the circumstances it is really hard to keep the relationship on a friend/friend basis especially since he has told you that he is attracted to you.
That is the difficulty of having a guy for a friend or a girl is a friend of a guy, nine times out of ten, one or the other gets feelings for the other and it changes the nature of the relationship for the one who has fallen.
I was told years ago by a some "guy friends" that if a guy is hanging around a girl and calling and things of that sort, nine times out of ten he is not interested in being "just a friend."
With this situation, I don't really know how you or he will be able to reset the relationship/friendship back to the way it was before his letter.
Also consider who you call a best friend. That was not very kind of her to spread your business like that...what else has she spread or said about you or anything concerning you?!?!?!

It's nice that he took the time to write the poem, but he needs to understand the status of your friendship.
This should have been just between you and Jake. Bringing someone else into the mix gets things confusing, cause they don't understand his or your feelings and will give their opinion, which isn't merited on Jake.
Take the time to talk to Jake, explain what your friendship means and you don't want anything, nor anyone to ruin it.
Best friends are sometimes more important than realtionships. Communication is best.

Learn a lesson, never trust anyone with information about anyone else. You just started gossip by betraying Jake's trust in you and telling your best friend.
Don't count on being close to Jake anytime soon. You betrayed him. I recommend that you give Jake some space but let him know you are sorry and you will be there for him.
The only immediate fix might be to dump your boyfriend and give Jake a chance(if he still wants you.) This could make your relationship with him go even further south as he will probably see that this move was for pity.

I think that you need to sit with him and tell Jake how you felt about the poem maybe he does like but just tell him that are friendship is so much better us with love and that you are sorry and was hoping that I could make it up to you

Jake always believed that someday you two would get together and the poem was his desperate and feeble attempt to speed up the process. He would have never been your "friend" if he thought that he had no chance and now that he believes that your boyfriend makes you happy, he expresses his love. Either leave the insecure young man be or find a hot chick for him and hopefully, he'll find love.
And your best friend is evil!

I think that he's jealous that you have a bf and that be isn't him , And he's trying to get you to break -up with ur bf so that he can be your bf . I know how you feel i had a friend ounce that did the same , And i sat him down and look here i have a boyfriend i appreciate the fact that u love me , but i don't love you and i just want to be friends with you . you should not have told that to your friend who is obviously a tattletale. And not a best friend!
I suggest that you talk with Jake under 4 eyes and tell him how you feel . He has all the right to be mad at you , because he poured his heart out to you

Well the same thing happened with me and one of my guy friends...you just have to tell him how you feel and if you don't like him that way then tell him that. And you need to keep talking to him and making sure that things don't stay awkward cause if you guys keep talking and stay close then he'll understand that you just want to be friends and the awkwardness will go away...

huh. tell this Jake guy u just wanted advice from ur friend, and u didn't expect her 2 tel everyone. tell him ur really sry but u only love him as a friend.
