He constantly tells me how great I am with our 5 month old son. We got into a fight last week in which he said some hurtful things to me. He would not even spend the weekend with me, and decided to go out with his friends last night instead of spend time with me on my first mothers day. He did not get me a gift or tell me happy mothers day. I am so hurt. What is your take on this matter?

You choose how others may treat you; if you allow him to "get to" you, you will have given your power over to him - which is not a smart move, or being a good role model for your son.

Choose instead to spend the day with your son. After all, he's the one who calls you "Mother", so enjoy him and make your day filled with fun and love. Your boyfriend will miss out on all the great times you'll be having with your boy - his loss, not yours.

Don't depend on someone else to make your day(s) happy; you know how to do it, so go ahead and have a great Mothers' Day!

happy first mothers day! I am celebrating my second mothers day. that was very insensitive of your fiance, but the day is not over, maybe he still has something planned. tell him that it hurt you but also be sure to give yourself a mothers day present. leave your son with a sitter and go get a massage or a pedicure. don't wait around for someone els to honor you. honor yourself!

are you two very young?not that it matters really but, it may explain his inability to understand your feelings. i had my first child at 25. my husband was then 34. my whole first mothers day went by w/o a word from him. i couldn't believe it. the only one who thought of me was my mom. needless to say, i was pretty p*ssed off and i let him know it but, then i let it go.maybe it'll take a while for your fiance to realize that mothers day now includes you as well as his mom.

doesn't sound like someone you should marry

seems he should know how much this means to you.

if he's like that now i don't think it will get better.
