Homo means same. Not mankind. Homosexual means sexual attraction toward the same sex. Does not mean sexual attraction to mankind. Homophobe is a term used to describe severe anti-gay person. This is happened when they combined homo[sexual] with phobia (this is because people who are often extremists in the anti-gay department, are closet cases, hence the term phobe - fear).

Interesting that you as what you would classify as Homophobic - which is a fear of homosexuals - it literally means “man-fearing,” but the “homo” in “homosexual” and in this word does not refer to the Latin word for “man,” but is derived from a Greek root meaning “same” while the “-phobic” means literally “having a fear of,” but in English has come to mean “hating.” “Homophobic” is now an established term for “prejudiced against homosexuals.”

So to answer what would you classify as homophobic you are talking about what behavior is homophobic.

Posting views about Homosexuality that are narrow minded.
Quoting outdated scripture that calls for the death of Homosexuals
Calling homosexuals and abomination
Verbal and physical bashing
even having a mindset that prevents you from knowing the truth about Homosexuals.

Anyone who uses anothers sexuality as the main influence in how they deal with them or think about them, usually someone who is not truly comfortably with their own sexuality. Ignorance breeds fear, A persons sexuality should not be the most prevalent characteristic used when forming an opinion.

My opinion is a homophobe is a very hateful and insecure person especially when in the company of gay people, they can come from any walk of life and being gay to them is another excuse for the said homophobe to become violent and abusive. Good question, by the way. =)

There is no such thing. It is a term that gays decided to give to people who actually understand what is in their pants, why it is in their pants, and how to use what is in their pants.
I do not have a "fear" of a gay person; what I have is a sincere pity for them. To be that confused must be horrible. To not be competent with something normally as natural as being able to choose a mate.
To be without self-control, to be without self-respect, to be without self-disipline. It must be very, very hard for them.
I know that there are many, many gays who are very nice people. And because i know thats true, I believe that each and every one of them deserves - and I mean deserves as their fundamental RIGHT to have all the counciling and treatments necessary and have it paid 100%, no questions asked.
No deductibles or copays, all paid in full.
We owe it to them to give them the help they need. And I don't want to hear anything against this, either. We are Christians, and we love our fellow man. Christ himself would mandate us to help them. Loving support and respect, and the highest possible level of medical and psychological care for all those we love, regardless of their religious beliefs.
If its a "choice" for them: then they get the psycological/psychiatric treatments available. If its something they prove in a person to be a genetic problem, then complete medical care along with the counciling.
Until the treatment is completed, it might be a good idea for them not to vote or make any other important decisions, because of their inability to make proper decisions. This is not mocking them, but understand that if you are unable to choose a mate, you are probably not able to make other rational decisions, either.
We owe it to them to help them. They are Gods children, too. God bless them all.

mankind would be homo sapiens sapiens, formally. Homophobic though is likely a slang word.

Someone who disagrees in part or whole with people who have and/or act upon homosexual passions.

That's got to be a fairly all encompassing definition. There are finer points, for instance I don't mind gay people, or gay marriage, but I am not sure if gay adoption should be allowed or not.

Anything that denies me the same rights and privileges to live open, happy, and free as heterosexuals is homophobic.

Fear of humans?

Guess what. Because a certain segment of society does not believe that homosexuality is acceptable behavior doesn't mean we fear them.

That would mean atheist fear christians

Homosexuals fear Christians.

Muslims fear Christians.

The whole concept is media hype.
