Jesus is son of man and at the same time son of God. Which perspective was he speaking from when he said "I am the way and the truth and the life. No one comes to the Father except through me." Please explain why you answer one or the other.
In context John 14:5-7
5 Thomas said to him, "Lord, we don't know where you are going, so how can we know the way?"

Dear Inquirer, I will share with you what I have come to believe. Jesus was speaking as the Christ. He was not referring to his human form. He came to teach that we are all the Christ or Son of God. He never intended to start the rigid movement known now as Christianity. However, there are many ways and I put down no one's path. God may be experienced and loved in many ways. Love is what matters, not theology or philosophy, or rules. Sometimes we study and consider these things before we come to realization of the truth. As the Son of God. Jesus is the only way in which we can get to God the Father; for everlasting life comes through no other than the Son of God. No other person on planet earth has ever claimed to be the Son of God. So it's either Jesus a liar, a mad man a lunatic or who He claimed to be, the Son of God. Thats tough. One way to look at is that Jesus was "clean" as the son of God. He was the only one who could approach God because He was sinless. Jesus seems to say here "I can open the door for you-its "my" house.
This passage actually starts in ch 13 and goes through 16. The closer context would be 14:1-14.
I really think Jesus is saying -"I am God".

Good question and one that demands a good theological answer as well, but seeing as I am not a theologian I venture to suggest that Jesus was talking here as the Son of God because of the authority that this statement contains.

Thus, through the spirit does one come to know the Father, it's not simply Jesus teaching that only he is the way, but the way is holy spirit that was his Word.
