I know people say that tanning beds aren't good for you. But I do like to go to keep up my color. Do you tan easily? If you are not used to a tanning bed, then you should start out slow. Maybe 8-10 minutes the first time. Lotion is also important. You can get a lotion with bronzer and that will help you to get darker. Hopefully the ones who work at the salon know what they are talking about and can assist you. It sounds like the hardest part is going to be talking your parents into letting you tan. From personal experience, the self tanning lotion isn't that great cause it's hard to get an even color. Plus, it can also stain clothes. You don't want to get that color on your expensive dress when it rubs off. ;-) Also, people get burned when they are out in the sun whether it's for fun or work. In a tanning bed, you can limit your time safely and then see results. Plus you don't have to worry about tan lines. It sounds like you would be reasonable and responsible about tanning and not over do it. I hope your parents let you go for your special occasion.

Probably. I wouldn't see why it would be any different.
