Show them that you really love them. Don't treat them as OLD people but as your parent and a friend. Surprise them with simple gifts of appreciation. Don't spare them good words. Visit them. Take them for a walk. If they are healthy enough to travel take them on a trip. Never give them an impression that they are useless and old.

Oh there is alot u can do.The first thing is to call them every week and find out how they are doing. Make sure someone is taking care of their lawn if they aren't able to do it.Once a month take them somewhere.Like to the lake or maybe the movies.Plus sometimes people at that age can't drive so it is nice to make sure they have away to the store if u can't take them.Just make sure all their needs are taken care of.

prove to them what a happy well adjusted child they created....married 2.4 children ( that was the national average in the U.K once) & are succesfull .......of course some older ppl can be very difficult so you may need to bend the truth sometimes....
My parents never spoke of emotions or showed love & I recall once telling my Mum who had cancer how much I loved them - the reponse was icy like Id said something horrible but when I look back Im glad I said it - but this is just my example of how difficult it can be to try & please your own parents.
Good luck!

make sure their needs are met (food, shelter ect) , make sure they feel needed and important, make sure that they are treated like the adults they are, and not ignored because they are "old".
