Yes it would. I was anemic as well a few years back and all I wanted to do was sleep. Having a low iron level drains your energy and gives you that tired worn out feeling altogether. Just be careful when taking iron supplements because those can hurt your stomach and are dangerous if you take way too much. Also getting your iron kevel back up is a slow process so don't get discouraged if you aren't cured in a week. You may also want to eat more leafy green veggies, meat and beans. All those have extra iron in them. The doctor told me to drink orange juice with the meals because it helps asorb the iron. Keep in mind that caffeine or nicotene depletes the body of iron so try to limit those as much as possible..Good luck :)

Hi
I think you should go to the Doctors, and tell him how you are feeling, You need to get a blood test,
I felt like you always tired(I fell asleep on the bus ) lifeless , all I did was stay in bed,I, was dizzy ,sick and walked around like I was a drunk, I went to the doctors had a simple blood test, 10 days later the doctor told me had anaemia, He put me on iron pills 3 a day, I feel much better, or course I still have bad days, I have only been on the iron pills 3 months, But I can tell you I feel a lot better,
Go and get a blood test, you need to know what is wrong with you, it doesn't take long and it is urgent,
Lots of Luck

Lack of iron IS anaemia. Iron tablets can solve this problem but can have some very unpleasant side effects, black stools and either constipation, usual reaction, or diarrhoea. Mine was the later and, as I have renal failure, this was not good as it causes dehydration, so I have an iron infusion once a month and a hormone injection once a week to encourage my bone marrow to produce red blood cells. These are essential as they transport oxygen round the body.

Yes it can be because of lack of iron. But it is unlikely that you will raise your iron levels with tablets from the shelf as these are usually 15mg and you may need as much as 200mg a day. I think the important factor is you are symtomatic - meaning you have signs of low iron which will efct your life. Its important you see your Dr and have a blood test and let him prescribe the correct treatment. Also it maybe something different.
Eating foods with lots of iron in them such as green veg, red meat, some nuts and cereal will help. Drink orange juice when taking iron tablets as these help there absorption. Tea will decrease absorption.

i have a lack of iron in my body and my mum was the one who told me if ya look at the bottom on ya eye and pull the bottom lid down, ppl with alot of iron in their body, have it glowin red with blood cells and if not it should either white or pale red due to lack or iron, my is slowly gettin up but its hard as i dnt eat any green veg, or anything containing iron, so i have tablet every other day to keep my levels abit higher than average as if ya have one everything day u'll either be constipated *lol* or constantly going lol hope it helps

It may. But do not self medicate your self with iron. Too much iron can be dangerous. You need to have a CBC ( complete blood count ) done to determine what you are missing and what the correct dose would be for you to take as well as how to adjust your diet.

Yes, BUT there are many other causes of fatigue. Has thyroid function been checked? Anxiety and depression, poor sleeping habits including obstructive sleep apnea are often overlooked. If female, are you pre-menopausal? Are you overweight? Insulin resistance and early stage type II diabetes is another possibility. These are common causes. There are many others.
A visit with a good and caring physician is recommended.
