AK has a heavier bullet, so it travels farther, penetrates farther, and hits harder.... but has more recoil.
I've heard the recoil systems on an m16 would allow you to hold the gun to your balls and shoot. So it's the better choice for multiple fire accuracy.

The current assult rifle or the U.S. is the m16-a2 the only diffrence from the m16-a1 only being that it has NO full auto capabilities, only 3 round burst. The AK-47 is dirt old, although there are many new variations of it. Most people who have AK's are people who cannot afford m-16's ( terrorists, and third world countrys). That being said the AK is an amazing gun , why do you think it is still being used today? Saying this the standard m-16 shoots a 5.56 (223.in commercial form) mm cartridge, you must remember the 5.56 is NOT designed to kill a man, its desgined to wound one!, and the AK shoots a 7.62mm (308. in commerical form), so you might say the Ak is more adequate for longer range skirmishes. To answer your question if you are on a buget get an AK they work, get dirty, and keep on working. If you have money and have troops worth giving top of the line weapons arm them with M-16s. Personally if i had to choose which one is better I would say the AK-47 BECAUSE it has had relativly no modifications and has been doing dirty work since 1947 that says something. m16 is the better choice because the 5.56mm round has higher velocity and a flatter trajectory. The ak47 is less accurate at longer distances because of the larger bullet. I do agree with the other person about the ak47 being a great rifle but for hunting purposes the m16 is a better choice.

My vote is for any Ak variant or even the original. It's reciever is made of steel unlike the cast aluminum one on the m-16/ar-15. The ak has proven itself in combat to be reliable and deal with harsh environments. Plus that 7.62X39 round, which most are chambered in, can really put the hurt to its target. .223 is nothing more than a varmint round.
Plus as far as accuracy goes, your run of the mill m16 used in military service (not the civilian ar-15's with long or bull barrels) isn't all that much better than an Ak, they both are meant to be assault rifles and are thus "lead hoses".

ak 47 will go in a stay in the person body ..m16 will go straight throught if u were going to kill some1 use ak47 ....plz dont kill any1 :P

ak47 it is the gun of choice for many ppl it does not over heat or get stuck easy reload and fast shotting

AK 47= any terrain & reliable
M 16 acurate & deadly @ a longer range...doesnt like sand, soil or water.
