Yes, Madison Avenue and 109th Street is considered Spanish Harlem. Alot is going on in Spanish Harlem now. New brownstones and apartments are being constructed there and some already completed. The area being invested in is looking up for the better. If you do decide to move to the area, try to check it out first and see if you like it.

All of Manhattan is going condo and is changing for the better. Now East Harlem is from 110th Street up to 125th street. West Harlem, starts from 125th Street on up. You might want to consider staying on the East side!

Also, check out 88th Street up to 109th street. It is nice there as well. Keep an eye out for the un advertised, brand new, Apartment complex's that you can rent for 12 months. Some are two and three bedrooms for $750.00 per month, unbelievable, yes, but I have seen their ad about a year ago.

They rarely advertise those, you really have to check out the internet for those.

Go online and type up New York City Housing Authority and find all the different types of housing accommodations they have. I believe you can applya at 350 Broadway N.Y, N.Y

hope this helps..

That's the barrio. Yet the neighborhood is slowly changing although there has been resistance by those living there for years. Madison Avenue is on the East Side of Manhattan, and all streets above 96th Street on the East Side is considered East Harlem. On the West Side it's different, Harlem starts at about 118th Street.

Don't go there, far away, in the middle of nowhere, lots of muggings on the Upper East side.

Hi,
Don't go above around 100th. It can get a bit toughy at night.
Say around 60th is cool enough.
