It is sometimes possible to control pain but not too often. Subtle pains like cuts, bruises, sprains even fractures can be controlled but there are pains which cant be controlled. Pain is an indication of the body which alerts you that something is wrong somewhere. You need to see a professional. Pain is something which you should not neglect.

Too much pain takes one into a situation called "shock", a state of defense by the body.

Do not teach yourself to control pain, heed to warning signals and see a doctor immediately.

If you relax enough and mentally "transfer" yourself to somewhere else, like hypnosis, you can get to the point where you don't feel slight to moderate pain.

Relaxing helps things hurt less.

Sometimes, if you can convince yourself that it is painless, the pain will drastically reduce.
