During debate on the Senate floor, Senator Ted Kennedy, speaking of the effects of the act, said, "...our cities will not be flooded with a million immigrants annually.... Secondly, the ethnic mix of this country will not be upset...." The act's supporters not only claimed the law would not change America's ethnic makeup, but that such a change was not desirable. However, in the end, this act dramatically changed the face of American society by making it a multicultural, multi-ethnic nation. Prior to the act, the United States was overwhelmingly composed of whites of European descent (89% in 1965), with the only minority group of significant size being blacks (10%). Since the implementation of the law, the relative proportion of the white population has been in steady decline, with whites projected to lose their majority status during the 21st century.

Yes they knew they would create this problem. it was part of a long term goal on the part of both political parties. The Democrats wanted them for the vote and the Republicans wanted to the new immigrants to come to satisfy their constitiuebnts who were the business owners and corporations who wanted cheap labor.

This can be seen by the fact that when a person registers to vote they cannot be asked to prove if they are citizens or not. Yo are not allowed to ask a person if he is a citizen. Many states like New York State have a "Motor Voter Registration" law which allows a person to sign up to register to be able to vote when they apply for a drivers license and since for may years even illegal aliens have legally gotten drivers licenses then they have been able to register to vote.

Things like this then causes a divide and conquer attitude on the part of the politicians and corporations. If they can keep people divided then they can make working conditions worse for the people already living here since there will now be about 200 differnt nationalities living here in the USA. Each group will keep to themselves and only fight for the rights of their own group. Also by not enforcing a one official lnaguage then you keep people divided by language also. Take for example a city like New York city. There are different nieghborhoods where you can live and work and never have to learn how to speak English.

So yes they (the politicians) knwo exactly what they were doing by changing the Immigration laws in 1965 to change the places form where immigrants could come from and the family reunification plan where an Immigrant could ask to brin gtheir aged parents here to this country and then be entitled to meidcare and social security without ever having paid into the system by having worked here all their lives. That is why you now see millions of homeless (white Ameircans and Black Americans) whose ancestors had been here for generations and not be able to afford to buy a house but must rent a place to live and all these new immigrants since 1965 come in here and in a couple of years have a house.

It is a well planned conspiracy to destroy the USA from within. The next step of the politicians of both political parties is to form the New North American Security zone which should be fully implemented between 2010 and 2012 which means that the borders will be erased between Mexico USA abd Canada and they will get rid of the US dollar and have the New Money called "The Amero". That is why Bush does not want to protect the border from illegal invasion of people just crossing the border and comming to live here. Also since the democrats gained a majority in congress in the last elections they have done nothing also to try and protect the border either.

So yes the majority group of this country (White Americans) will continue to decline. The percentage is now only 69% white compared to 90% White in 1965. But soon all the customs and language and laws which had made this country a great place to live will be undone and we will only be workers living with other workers in the same geopgraphic area and there will be no adhesiveness which will keep our cuture and country alive.

First off, it's scary to think that Teddy was in the Senate in 1965 (the year I was born) and the idiots in Massachusetts keep sending that drunken blimp back.

Liberals wanted more minorities because they know that most whites see their policies as what they are - socialism.

Yes, but there is a lot of blame to go around. The GOP thirst for cheap labor for their business lobby that fills their campaign coffers. The Catholic Church's desire to regain their status and restock their membership after the sex abuse scandal. Then the Dem.s thirst for free votes that will come their way when amnesty is granted

I think a lot of them didn't, but Kennedy did. He wants even more now.

It isn't about ethnicity to me but about losing control over who comes. We have a right to let in those who are needed for our nation, instead of those who predominantly drain it. In Canada and the UK the proportion of employment/skills visas to family visas is exactly the opposite of ours.
