In the start of my baseball season we did alot of hard sprinitng. I realized after one day doing sprints my right lower back muscle or bone just above my butt hurt very bad. So i rested it. The next morning it was better. It kept doing this for a about two weeks. Then finally it went away for about 3 months. Now 3 days ago i did sprints and i got an even worse pain to the ponit where it hurts to jog, bend, stretch. The thing is now the pain hasnt gone away at all. What is this and what is it caused from???

this is a pulled muscle or a strained muscle. It's caused from over use of the muscles. You're going to have to take a break for at least three days. Place ice packs on the area of pain for ten minutes at a time. You can repeat this several times a day.

Use Advil soft gel capsules three times a day to help with inflammation And pain.

I recommend you see a chiropractor as they specialize in sports injuries. I've enclosed a link where you can find a chiropractor in your area. See one as soon as possible so you can get back to your normal sports activities.

The advice so far is 100% correct - go see a Chiropractor.

I am a Chiropractor (New Zealand based) andfrom what you describe you have irritated either the gluteus maximus muscles where it attaches to the top of your pelvis. Or the erector spinae muscles inyour lower back.

If the pain disappeared and returned, chances are there are a few joints that are disrupted which will allow the muscle to re-injure after returning to your sprinting.

When you sprint, you put excessive strain on the glut muscles and the lower back region. Hence the injury.

Don't worry it isn't permanent or serious and should settle with treatment and a bit of rest.Find a Chiropractor in your area and ask for a free assessment so you can check them out as to what they do and how they can help.

In the mean time, I have a free e-courseon my web site that should help to ease things and make life easier until you consult with someone - see http://www.back-pain-advisor.com/back-solutions-masters-course.html or contact me at http://www.back-pain-advisor.com/contact-us.html

It is called the "Piriformis" muscle & you can go to a chiropractor & get special stretching exercises to do before you do any sports.
