The main requirements for a long and active life are regular exercise and a good diet.

By regular exercise it does not mean that you need to go over the top or join an expensive gym. Simply, purchasing an exercise bike to use for twenty minutes on three days a week will significantly increase you physical health.

Diet is also very important. The nation which has the best statistics in the world with regard to the life expectancy of its population is Japan. In this country they eat practically no red meats at all. There diet is made up of fruit, vegetables and a high quantity of fish.

Red meat has been proven to have a link with certain cancers and is also high in saturated fats which can lead to heart disease and strokes. A diet rich in fruit and vegetables will not only reduce these risks but in conjunction with oily fish, such as tuna, will actively work to prevent such health problems developing.

Some suggestions that wouldn't interfere too much with your life:

- Drink a smoothie everyday.
Blend different fruits like bananas, strawberries or raspberries which are easily found in most supermarkets and use orange juice as a liquid base to keep the mixture viscous.

- Walk more often.
If you drive to work, try walking to meet friends or just taking a 20-30 minute stroll a few times a week.

- Watch your diet.
Be conscious of the amount of saturated fat and other 'bad stuff' you ingest. You don't necessarily need to stop eating fatty foods, but just eat them a little less. Start reading the little "nutritional information" boxes on food labels!

- Try to find a sporty activity you like.
A martial art, a team sport or just a solo activity that wears you out. Not only will it keep your heart and entire cardiovascular system healthier, but you should feel more fulfilled at the end of a day when you're too tired to do anything but sleep at night. Sex counts as a cardiovascular activity too :P

Hope these suggestions help!

You’re probably already doing active things in your daily life, such as housework, gardening and playing with children for instance. All these past times promote healthy living and count toward your daily dose of physical activity.

First, look at your daily routine and see what physical activity you already do and what improvements you can make for an even healthier lifestyle. An easy way to begin is to take the active option rather than the inactive option. For example, try to use the stairs rather than the lift. At work, achieving a healthier lifestyle could mean taking a short walk at lunchtime, or walking part or all of the way to work. You could get off the bus a couple of stops earlier and walk the rest of the way. At this stage, you’re really just starting to build physical activity into your daily routine.

These small healthy living changes can really make a difference to the way you feel. You should start to feel less tired and stressed and more alert throughout the day.

Why wouldn't you promote learning parenting skills and responsibility? Why is it so important that teenagers don't raise children? What do you get out of breaking up a small family unit instead of keeping the small family unit together? Why not do diaper and formula drives, promote breastfeeding, encourage a young mother to work from home as a day care provider or other careers. Why make a choice for them to push your view that teenagers are unfit to raise children because you didn't raise your child when you were a teenager? Why not encourage them to grow up and mature and take responsibility? Are children that disposable in your eyes that they should be given away before you finish your education?

40 is the time we realise we are mortal and try and do something about it!

1st big plus you don't smoke. 50% of smokers will die as a result of their habit.

Try and exercise down to your ideal weight, mainly using CV exercise. If this is new to you consult a qualified trainer.

Go to your GP/Practise nurse and get your BP, blood sugar and fasted lipids checked.

Eat plenty of fresh fruit and veg, supplements are no substitute. Done take any non- prescribed drugs, don't buy anything from the net that says it promotes health! It will only lighten your wallet!
