It's Mother's Day. This is for the many women here who have touched my life in so many ways:
To the women on my journey
Who showed me the ways to go and ways not to go,
Whose strength and compassion
Held up a torch of light and beckoned me to follow...
To the women on my journey
Who showed me how to live and not to live,
Whose grace, success and gratitude
Lifted me into the fullness of surrender to God...
To the women on my journey
Who showed me what I am and what I am not,
Whose love, encouragement and confidence
Held me tenderly and nudged me gently...
To these woman I say bless you and thank you
From the depths of my heart
For I have been healed and set free
Through your joy and through your sacrifice.
-Rev. Melissa M. Gowers (adapted)
And of course, I sent this to my mother too. I live in a different country so personally thanking her will have to wait until I can see her in person... What did you do for your mom today?

Hi clone- Actually, my mother wold chew you up and spit you out for how you treat me and other people here. She taught me kindness, compassion, love, tolerance and respect. She may not agree with every decision I make, but she is my mother and she loves me unconditionally. I am sorry you didn't have that kind of live in your life. If you did, you may not be so bitter now. God bless you, because you show us in so many ways that you need it.

To those of you who have lost your moms (especially sassyk) , I am so sorry. I know how hard it is to lose a parent. My biological father died 11 years ago, then my stepfather died 2 1/2 years ago. They may not be with us here physically, but they will always be in our hearts.

That was beautiful. Thank you for that. My Mother passed away a year ago. This is a tough day for me. I hope you get to see your Mom often. Life is so short. You sound like a great daughter.

thank you terry, this poem is beautiful.
Mothers day is truely the hardest day for me even though I am a mother of 3 wonderful kids who love me and celebrate with me.
but there is one person missing and that's my Mother whom was killed soon to be 32 years ago but it seems like last month. For me the loss has been constant because we weren't only Mother and Daughter but she was my best friend. I miss her greatly and wish she could see the Mother I am because of the Mother she was to me.
My wish for all of the Mothers today is not only to be a Mother but be a friend and always show your children love so they will remember you as most inportant person in their life.
May God Bless each Mother on this day and each mother to be
I love you MOM

No, she has been dead for many years now. But I did think about her. Since I answer questions in Religion & Spirituality more than other categories, I often mention my Methodist Sunday school teacher mother. Since I am a witch myself, it is important to point out that one of the best things about her was that she accepted me as I am -- or was while she was alive.
When she was in the hospital and knew she was going to die soon, her minister would not talk to her about death. He just said, "Oh, Betty, you'll be up and around in no time." But I was willing to talk about it, and to discuss it in terms she would understand. She knew that I used different symbols, and had somewhat different beliefs, but we were able to communicate and to share our love. I asked her, "When Jesus asks you how you liked being my mother, what will you tell him?" She said, "Well, it was hard at times, but it was good, too. I'm very proud of you and I love you very much."
I will always remember that.

No I did not. Sadly she has not had contact with me in almost three years b/c she disapproved of my decision to marry a man she disapproved of. So I thank her in my mind for what she did do for me in the past that was good. Instead, I celebrate my mother in law who treats me like a daughter and a friend who does the same. I wonder what my mother thinks of on this day. So sad.

oh
once a person dies his work(in connection to god)is finished
but not of three
1 a continuous sadaqa( as ordering candles for a mosque, helping some families in need.....)
2 thing that he or she left behind.and pple got benefited of that(such as bringing water to mosque,or building a mosque .or sheltering praying pple, or a Courbet ,or even publishing a book
3 a good child who keeps praying for his parents
that's an additional part into your question i write to those who his parents are now in different place than we are

Well I haven't gotten to talk to her yet today because she's out of town. But I did leave her some flowers in her house for her to find when she gets back today. And I gave my grandmother a little froggy figurine ^_^
