I had a stent put in my commin bile duct the end of July 2006 before i had my gall bladder removed. my surgeon said that the GI Doctor would take it back out in about 6 weeks which would have been in september 2006 but my surgeon and myself had called the GI Doctor to have the appt set up and when i would call the office they said they would call me back and they never have. And now I dont have medical insurance that would even cover the procedure if they were to go in now and do it. What do I do? And are there any adverse side effects from this?

Check with a medical university and explain the situation to them. They may be able to help you since you don't have health insurance.

PS: I know this is a different situation, but my husband has had a stent in his heart for 3 years.
