Jesus gave His life for every person to go to heaven by obeying God and taking on all the sins of man and being beaten 39 times with a whip that had nine tails and tore the back of Jesus to shreds. Each whipping represents a sickness and illness that Jesus bore for us that we can be healed if we believe.Sometimes it is not meant to be but that is what that represents. He carried the cross. They put a crown of thorns on Him and smashed it down on His head,They nailed Jesus to the cross. They watched Him die.It was 6 hours of the most pain anyone has ever went through because He carried all of mans sins on Him.Jesus died on the cross and to make sure He was dead He was pierced with a sword in His side and the blood of God and water came out. When it hit the ground the sky turned black and there was a great earthquake and one of the Roman soldiers said SURELY HE WAS THE SON OF GOD>Amen

The crucifix is Jesus dying for all the sin of the world. He did this so we would not have to pay the penalty of hell for our sins. Jesus defeated death and gave us a gift of eternal life. The empty cross means Jesus has resurrected and offers us life eternal.

You have got to read the Bible. The gospels lay out the story. Especially the book of John. It is the greatest love story of all time. It's about His love for you.
