I think so.

I don't know if you're just pondering the question, or if something has happened for you to feel depressed and you've lost faith.......So......Here's what I think.

Everything has a reason even when you can't see the ending.

Somebody tell me if this is not true: Faith is a belief that they know the answer to something (in this case God), even when things don't look like it. They have faith that they know the answer.

Your faith in God is going to be tested constantly. I know you know that. So how do you test faith?!?! Isn't faith tested by something bad happening and someone saying, "See, God let this happen to you."?

When I say everything has a reason, it's because I can now look back on my own life and see where my faith was being tested. I felt depressed and alone sometimes. I can see sometimes that my decisions and faith effected other people and events that I had no idea about. Sometimes its years before you realize what’s happened. Sometimes you never know.

I’m sure everyone can relate to this: Look how much has changed in your life in just the last 3 months. Now look at the last 3 years. What kind of an effect are you going to have in the next 3 years if you lose faith in God?

I’m with Amber W when she says God is everything and without God, there is nothing. Faith is going to be tested through trials and tribulations. And with that they are going to be depressing events. But they will change, and you will be stronger when they have come to pass.

I don't know if there is officially a connection, but most people I know who suffer from some form of depression did lose faith in God. However, the reason they suffer from depression has nothing to do with losing faith in God. They just went through some really horrible stuff.

I am sure losing faith in god and life could be a symptom of depression, as one would expect a depressed person to see no point or hope in anything.
On the other hand, I would get depressed if I lost faith in life and god, so i'm voting for yes!

Yes. I do believe there are chemical imbalances aside from this sort of thing, but a person can fall into depression as a result of things in their lives, and perspectives they obtain. Losing faith in life and God leaves you with absolutely nothing...it's an equation for suicide. God is all there is. You can pretend there's life without Him, and it may last temporarily, but He's eternal...yet...I guess so is life without Him, but that's down below. So lose faith in God? Then there's no good reason to live.

Depression causes you to lose faith in almost everything. Especially when you feel horrible, can't function, maybe even feel suicidal. We live in a society where people are constantly 'going', 'doing', and the status quo is do more, be more, etc. It's very hard to live up to these standards when you can't function properly on a day to day basis. It's hard to feel that way and believe that there is any reason to have faith in a 'God', when you feel horrible most of the time.

I think when we are depressed, we feel like we are alone. So it's very common to feel that God has forgotten us. It helps me to look for "God" in everything around me; the beauty of a flower, a streak of sunshine through the clouds, the amazingness of a tiny baby (I mean really! How did those two little cells, the sperm and the egg, know how to make tiny eyeballs and fingers and spleens?! Tell me God isn't behind THAT!)

So, exercise daily, eat healthy, read lots of positive thinking materials, take B100 and St. John's Wort, laugh. Start looking for the good in everyone and everything, and you'll start to find it!

I wish you well.

ABSOLUTELY! When you are depressed you naturally become this way...and the hopelessness sets in. You begin to feel like no matter what you do, it won't matter in the long run anyway. I remember this feeling well when I was going through a serious bout of depression.

If this is you, seek help now! It may take time to get the right dosage of meds and to get the right meds to begin with, but it will get better. You are also going to want to start therapy.

Take care of you!

Many people blame God and Jesus for their failures in life, and dissapointments,...when in fact, it is satan, who is really responsible...don't lose your faith sweetie, this is exactly what satan wants...do you remember Job? How satan tried to destroy Jobs' faith in God, by destroying his life? And to a point, the Lord let it happen, almost like a test, and Job won, and so did God...so you must be aware of who your enemy REALLY is...and please, don't lose that faith ....Pray to God through Jesus, and apologize to Them for losing faith, and ask Them to forgive you, and to give you strength to carry on...I can promise you without fail, the Lord knows your heart, and will take care of you...but when Satan dishes it out, just be very aware of who your enemy REALLY is...It is really hard now adays, and don't forget, satan doesn't have much time left and is bound and determined to destroy the faith in his enemy, God, and especially Jesus...Beloved, My prayers are with you also, that your days of depression will end soon xoxoxo
