I have a specific purpose in asking this question. It will be revealed in time.

1 Timothy 4:16 - "Take heed unto thyself and unto the doctrine; continue in them, for in doing this thou shalt both 'save thyself, AND them that hear thee."

1 Timothy 4:13 - "Till I come, give attendance to reading, exhortation, to doctrine."

Titus 1:9 - "Holding fast to the faithful word as he hath been taught, that he may be able by 'sound doctrine' both to exhort and to convince the gainsayers."

The point that I was trying to get across in this question was that many atheists and other non-Christian belief systems lump these groups together under the name "Christian." This is a terrible error
because it gives people false hope.

To be a Christian in the truest sense we must:

Repent and seek God's forgiveness through the blood of Christ.

Accept with our hearts the gift of salvation.

In gratitude, love and serve God as long as we have life which includes eternity.

This will result in works - but salvation will
never be by works. Therefore it is right to conclude that None of those listed above are Christian because being a Christian is not a denominational thing but a personal ongoing relationship with
God as some have expressed.

To believe that works or denominational ties or belief systems alone make you a Christian is a terrible mistake. That is where false religion comes from.

Acts 4:12 and John 14:6 says it all!

Christians are those who are Christ-like. Those who obey Him.

Wearing the name of a group doesn't accomplish that. It's a personal relationship with Christ.

(I do believe that part of obedience is being part of a congregation and giving/receiving support and fellowship, but belonging to a congregation doesn't necessarily make you a Christian.)

These days the term Christian has gone the way of the term "DATING".

In the past, when you dated someone, you were looking for a mate for life. These days you are looking for someone to sleep with that same night.

In the first century, being Christian meant you were a follower of Christ, but today it merely means you claim to believe Christ existed. Your life does not have to follow anything Christian. You also can mix Christian belief with anything non-Christian, and say it's Christian.

So, identifying a group as Christian or not means little.

You have to ask yourself , what is a Christian? The scriptures aside a Christian:

Believes in obeying the law, even the inconvenient ones, such as speed limits when late for work;

Believes in paying taxes, even though there are many ways they could avoid them, as most religions do;

Believes in keeping their word, such as to the IRS that they will not promote politics in the church, and they actually mean it:

Teaches their youth that waiting until marriage is preferable to using protection, and for the most part, the youths actually believe it....As a result, their denomination has the lowest rates of out-of-wedlock births and STDs....Yes, there is the occasional ones who would rather have their fun now than wait, but there are far more who choose to wait;

Treats their youth with respect, not just "do what you're told!";

Teaches their children side by side with the adults, the Bible as a whole, and not just Bible stories....The very young may not understand what they are being taught, but by the time you reach the age of understanding, they have a good basic knowledge of the scriptures;

Tries to attend congregations that never get so large that the individual gets lost in the crowd and since everyone is taught the same, it is easy to start a new congregation, with a set of elders;

Knows everyone in their denomination, whether in the congregation, the city, or the county....When a disaster like Katrina happens, every member of the denomination living in New Orleans was accounted for and evacuated;

Attends a church that compliments a neighborhood, and not overwhelm it, with a lot of expensive decorative features;

Attends a church that has all their members read the whole Bible, repeatedly, and submit their thoughts on where the denomination is doing that is not in keeping with the Bible;

Wears out a Bible every few years, from use; and

Can tell you what actual day Christ observed the Last Supper on, the only day he said to keep in Memorial, without referring to the man made secular holiday.

I love questions with a point. If it's a riddle about Christians, then I'm not getting it LOL. Anyway, I like some of the answers above. I think people from most the denominations can be Christians, but as they said above, it is what the individual believes and it is between them and God. I can't be the judge of anyone as to what they have in their heart. Also, if you are following your own traditions and not the Bible, then I would say you aren't really a Christian, but again, it all comes down to whether you accept God and Jesus in your heart as to whether or not you're a Christian.

Protestants-- those who are born again in Christ Jesus.
Some de noms are born agains. There are some good Baptist churches that teach the truth. I would have to answer this in saying who IS NOT a christian and that would be Mormons and JW's and church of science- Methodist- and I do not know about some of those....Oh and catholics- they do not hold to the word of God. How can they be born again? I always say, if one is born again the Spirit leads them into all truth, and they desire to live by the word of God....not by other doctrines created by men. They know the Holy Bible to be the living word of God.

Your question is extremely difficult to answer, Asker!

You can be a member of any of the above sects or groups you mentioned above, and still not be a christian, as much as you can be in a garage and not be a car!

So, the criteria is not a good one to sift Christians from non-Christians! That's why it's important to look at the fruits of the Holy spirit in a believer rather than denominational membership.

No one can truly answer this question. Most churches have saved people in them. If you are talking doctrine then no church is perfect because we cannot understand everything that is in the Bible. So the best thing you can do is find a church that teaches through the Bible and study it for yourself and pray so you have a good understanding of it. The only person that you can judge as saved or not is yourself.

Some people in each of these religions are Christians and some people are not. It isn't the church that makes you a Christian, it is your individual faith in Christ that makes you a Christian. If you know you are a sinner, deserving of death and hell, but know that God loved you and sent His son to pay for you sin by His death at Calvary's cross and that He rose again you are a Christian.

Galatians 3
26For ye are all the children of God by faith in Christ Jesus.
27For as many of you as have been baptized into Christ have put on Christ.
28There is neither Jew nor Greek, there is neither bond nor free, there is neither male nor female: for ye are all one in Christ Jesus.

John 3:16[kjv] For God so loved the world, that he gave his only begotten Son, that whosoever believeth in him should not perish, but have everlasting life.

so when we believe in JESUS we have eternal life.JESUS lived a sinless life and gave up his life as a sacrifice so we can be sin free. Ask JESUS to come into your heart and forgive ur sins and cleanse ur past with his blood.

With a simple prayer like above u can be saved.JESUS loves u and wants u to be saved.

Sure. You can identify the True Christians as opposed to false by how they frame their questions. Questions are generally based on your own beliefs as are answers.

If the questions show basis in Bible truths instead of man's, then generally they might be Christians.
