It is simply untrue. All the evidence that has been put forward is taken out of context. Those who believe it is true take information form the gnostic gospels. These books were dismissed by the early church because they did not agree with the other biblical texts. The gnostics believed for example that for a women to become a Christian she must first become a man.

no one knows. The idea came from one of the lost scriptures, where one apostle, jealous of her place as Jesus's favorite, said 'he kisses her on the (XXXXX).

The actual word is lost due to disintigration of the text, but the aramic word for 'mouth' would fit into the space where the word originally was.

We do know, from these documents, that she was the heir apparent to the Christian church, but was usurped. Jesus was a feminist and had to repeatedly remind his apostles of the necessity for equality of women.
