Think of the reasons why you want to eat healthy. Not the basics, but really think of the deeper reason.

To be there when grandkids graduate?
To have life in your years...no matter how many you have?

Nobody can tell you, but you need to search what is important to you...This is your "WHY" WHY am I doing this?

Then meditate on that. When you go to eat, think of your WHY, not of your diet. It is your hearts desire (your core values) which will keep you on track. Anything less is easy to push aside.

One other thing. Schedule your rewards. Perhaps each time you lose 5 pounds, a small ice cream, or once a week have a treat.
If you have no treats to look forward to, then your cravings are much more harsh, but if they are scheduled into your diet, the urge is usually easier to resist when there is a treat at the end of the rainbow.

Oh Sister! I know exactly what that is like! I do it time and again. I've been doing it since I was 13 yrs old. (now I am 27).

I am 5 feet tall and 240 pounds. Been on at least 30-40 different diets in my lifetime, and still continue to gain a steady 10-12 pounds per year.

I think the trick to it is to just make small changes in diet and lose a steady 4-5 pounds per month instead of 4-5 pounds per week.

Instead of giving up junk food completely and depriving your body of what it craves, maybe you should allow yourself to have one or two treats a week. That way you don't wind up binging and going overboard.

Everytime you are craving a treat, try drinking a full glass of water and eating some fruit/veggie, or low fat yogurt, and then drink a teaspoon of apple cider vinegar (chase it with more water).

And instead of killing yourself everyday by exercising 2 hours a day, you only need to work out 30-45 minutes a day. Your body is not used to those sudden changes and you're in shock, lol. Maybe your body will allow you to stick with a work out routine if it's not so long and time consuming.

Cheers

I think I have the same problem. This is what I have done. I have got rid of all the crappy junk food in my house. Take a friend with you shopping that will help you pick healthy food to munch on. Beleive it or not sugar free jello with whip cream is a great sweet snack. Start writing what you eat in a journal. It makes you realize what you take in. Dont work out so hard in the beginning , you have a higher chance of giving up because your body is not used to it. Work out light in the beginning to give your body a chance, you only need to work out like 3 to 4 times a week for a half hour. I have lost and gained all my life. It really comes down to a life style change. It is truly difficult so find as much support as you can. I told everyone at work I was watching what I eat and then I feel like I cant eat bad at work..There is half my day! :) Good Luck dont get discouraged. I am trying adkins for temporary jump start my weightloss then I am going to try weightwatchers or south beach.

You are trying much too hard. When you do it that way, it gets boring fast. You should be thinking about long term health benefits, not getting super fit in a short period of time. A balanced diet means variety, so people will not lose interest in healthy eating and go back to fast food, but many people keep eating pasta everyday until it is coming out of their ears, so they revert back to the junk and instantly feel good. It is the same with training, 2 hours a day is good, but not absolutely essential. 3 times a week, for 45 mins is better, and then you won't get so bored with it, and after 6 months you will notice how much good it is doing you. Looking for results too fast does not work, and makes us go back to our old habits, because we put ourselves through punishment.

Just try lifestyle changes, that last for life. The short sharp shock does not work, but long term lifestyle changes become enjoyable.

There is a book called Body for Life that says that even the most cut people pig out once a week, in fact the writer of that book says that your body needs to cheat once a week. Don't be discouraged. The important thing is to exercise to be healthy not to be vain. If you exercise six days a week you will be fine. That way you can look forward to pigging out once a week...GUILT FREE! I would suggest drinking skim milk and diet pop always instead of whole milk and regular pop and always avoiding fast food six days a week. The amount of sugar in pop is just insane. There is too much fat in 2% and whole milk. 1% is not bad. GOOD LUCK!

Try setting smaller goals. You only need half hour of exercise to get health benefits, and drop rationalization: that all your exercise lets you eat junk.

you should stick to a diet you actually like if you are on a diet you don't like there is no way your gonna stick to it. you should try nutri system you might like it cuz you can still eat all the stuff you like like chocolate.
heres the link:
http://www.nutrisystem.com/shop/main.cfm?action=catalog/displayCategoryMembers&category_id=310&template_type_id=2#menu

But remember not every diet works for every one because every one is different and you still have to do some working out but you can do light stuff like a walk around the park a bike ride around the block stuff like that thats working out to just because your not in a gym lifting weights or something dosen't mean its not a work out.
