I'm thinking you mean 16 GB as in gigabytes of memory. If that is the case, you definitely DO NOT need a swap memory partition. Usually, you don't need a swap partition when you have over 2 GB of memory (depending on what kind of apps you will be using, of course)

OMG 16MB of RAM...... How old is that PC!!! Does Linux even run on 16MB?

Not sure about Linux but Virtual Memory (a.k.a. Swap File) is all part of the setup of the operating system. At least it is in Windows XP. The Virtual Memory is preset to 12% of the size of your hard drive but can be manually set to a larger amount.

You may want to look into setting it to a larger number if it's possible in Linux.

Hope this helps.

16GB? Hmm, wierd, a lot of older OS have trouble using that 16GB, are you sure this is correct? You must be a very rich person to do this.....

Anyway, even if you have that many RAM's I suggest to still have swap memory, just lower your swap memory settings. It's highly recommended NOT to disable it.
