You are definitely on the right track. However, make sure you are doing 'brisk' walking for at least 30 minutes per day -
a leisurely stroll honestly won't take off much weight. Make sure to reduce your simpler carbs and sugar intake. If your meals consist mainly of protein, veggies and fruit with very little bread, white potatoes, white rice etc. this will also help quite a bit.

Great Advice!!
Check out your blood type and work on eating foods according to your blood type. Never go on diets they may work and help loose weight but you'll loose the eating patterns and end up putting the weight back on. Eating for your blood produces more energy than eating some healthy foods that can create formations in your body. Eating the right types of food can naturally exercise your body. Some A positive blood types only need little excercise. Have you ever seen a slim looking girl not excercise yet stay slim its because of thier blood circulation and metabolism.

Observing a balanced diet complemented by regular exercise is certainly a good way to get started to losing weight. It would probably be useful for you to evaluate the reason for your excess weight - it could be lack of / inadequate exercise, high caloric intake (i.e. you are taking in more than you are burning), low metabolism (i.e. you are not eating too much but your body burns fat less slowly than the normal rate), thyroid disorders, or a combination of these factors. Depending on the cause, your plan of action might need to be modified.
If you have determined that your primary cause of weight gain is inadequate exercise or low metabolism, then starting on a regular exercise programme would be beneficial. If you have had a rather sedentary lifestyle, you should consult a doctor before starting on such a programme so that you do not stress your heart too much. Walking is excellent for people of all ages and states of health, but if you are able, it would be good to engage in an activity that will give your heart and other muscles a good workout (e.g. aerobics, weight training, jogging, cycling). Swimming is a very good exercise as the water helps support your weight while your muscles get a good workout. It is also a safe exercise as it can even be done by people with asthma.
As for high caloric intake, you would need to combine a balanced, healthful diet with exercise. Reducing your calories can be achieved by substituting low-fat alternatives such as fruits (with low sugar content), raw vegetables, and food that is steamed or broiled / grilled rather than fried.
If you suspect that none of the above is the cause of your problem, do see a doctor to check out the possibility of a disorder of the thyroid gland. Medication can usually correct this problem.
As for myself, I was getting inadequate exercise and also had low metabolism. Calories were also probably a part of the equation (though I eat little) as my mother-in-law's food has a high fat content. In mid-December 2006, I started on some herbal (Ayurvedic) medicine to boost my metabolism, and it was also required of me to switch to a completely vegetarian diet while I was on this medication. My breakfast consists of a porridge made from grains, and my lunch comprises either boiled vegetable soup or a small portion of rice with generous helpings of vegetables. Dinner typically consists of one piece of bread made from wheat flour, again with generous helpings of vegetables. I do not have the stamina for strenuous exercises, but I do take the effort to go on the treadmill every day for sessions lasting between 20 and 30 minutes. I also go for 30-minute walks twice a week, and try to take the stairs occasionally instead of the elevator. In five months, I have lost 7.5 kg.
If I can do it, so can you. Good luck!

Yes, that you will. I have been doing it for about a month now and I have lost 10 pounds. I am so proud of myself.
I don't exactly count calories, all I do is eat plenty of fruits and vegetables and excercise for about 30 minutes a day. I also lay off high calorie foods, fast foods and sweets.
Good luck to you!

Proper eating and staying Active will always help. Most people do not eat enough calories from a proper food selection. Heck, a 1/4 pounder meal deal @ MickeyD's can give us most of our daily calorie needs, but, that is "NOT" a proper food selection.
