Look again at the First Amendment. You cannot possibly reconcile a line like "abolish stupid religions" with the First Amendment.

I was brought up by a Methodist Sunday school teacher, although to be fair, a reasonably rational and sane one. And yet those "terrors" of which you speak were nowhere near as frightening as the concept of having to learn about my heritage in secret, because it is illegal. Such was the childhood of many Jewish children throughout history, and of Christian children in the Soviet Union, just to take a couple of examples.

The problem is not religion, but the manner in which it is taught. We cannot regulate that, because it is primarily taught by parents, or by teachers selected by parents. The alternative would be an authoritarian regime that invaded every home, snooped into everyone's business, and was even worse than Child Protective Services is already!

How about the religion of drinking?
How about the religion of bigotry?

etc. etc. etc.

We all have a responsiblity to teach our children life skills. It is unfortrunate when some people take their kids to the extremes.

I grew up going to Church with my parents, and yet I don't have those things, nor ever did. ("Satan comes to her at night") That statement could be true of the child that had parents that worshipped Satan.

Ultimately we have just one responsiblity to our kids. Teach them how to love one another. Everybody will have the freedom to choose (even as a child) between right and wrong. It's through the example we set as parents that help shape and mold our children. Your message sounds like you are anti-religion. It's just a generalization you have placed on this case. Most people brought up in and around religion become more grounded adults, and generally get along in society in my opinion. Yes, I agree there are unusual situations, like the one you mentioned, but overall you can't place that on all people.

Let me reword your statement:

Can you imagine the amount of terror parents who party, drink, don't teach love, don't pay their bills, lives on welfare & gets divorced has created in the minds of Children?

Boy, if they didn't do those things, and maybe participated in some group (Religion) who teaches love and service to others would possibly help children enjoy a happy childhood, free of abuse?

What are you doing? What was in your mind? Did you eat something which is not good?

Religion has nothing to do with the children who are afraid of the Satan or evil spirit. It is the evil spirit that made her afraid.

You know , religion teaches the child to be good Christian, to believe in God and not to believe on the temptations of the evil spirit . Remember that religion is good for the children inorder to be a good child.

If you could only understand ther bible there is no abuse on religion and the bible.

Its you who could be condemned for not teaching your child about religion and God. You should visit your church.,please.

People have the right to believe whatever they want. If the girl you mentioned sees "satan" at night, then she probably does, or probably has a mental illness.

Maybe you find religious beliefs are stupid. However, some of us, find that life would be meaningless without religious beliefs. I grant you that some religions can be very dangerous when they encourage children to kill people in the name of God (like the Mickey Mouse look-alike in a Hammas TV station).

The truth is that people always have found the need to believe, and it is the people who should use their minds to think, if what they are taught by their religious leaders is worthy of following. I personally would not follow any leader that tells me that it is right to kill peoplein the name of God.

Doesn't better judgement compell one from taking stupid questions like this one seriously? The girl complaining about Satan coming to her at night? Religions fault? Or is it this girl's dumbass fault from watching too much of the nonsense that Hollywood keeps producing just for little mindless consumers like her? Maybe the FCC should abolish Hollywood altogether.

My children are in no way what so ever subjected to terror of any kind religious or not.
But how very stereotypical of you to assume all children of religious parents are. My children are gifts from God and they are treated with all the preciousness, security and love as parents we are able to provide.
Human rights have more pressing concerns I'm sure than children being raised in happy, secure, law abiding homes.
I'm not suggesting for one second there is no parent out there that does not abuse there child in some way and are religious of course their are, but to suggest that religion itself is a from of terror is just ludicrous.

Oh please...you can't be serious.

I was a child...as were most of us. Because a few kids are scared of Satan (with good cause) you want to make it a Human Rights violation?

If you are really worried about the minds of children, lets make it a violation to allow your children to watch R rated movies. I know young teens who have seen "Saw" and the like. Kids who have seen Halloween and violent movies with bizarre killings and tortures.

I think we should start there instead of going after the parents who are actually teaching their kids that there is a heaven and a hell and consequences for their actions.

Anyone can be mentally unstable or have irrational fear, whatever their religion or lack of religion.

I'm a Christian, 16 and perfectly happy thank you very much. I can stop believing in my religion any time I want but I choose not to because I believe in God and Jesus. If you don't then that's your choice and you're entitled to it. Leave me to believe in what I want as I leave you to believe in what you want and don't make us out to be crazy because the majority of us certainly aren't.

No, because not all children raised in religion have miserable childhoods. Mine was excellent; I was raised in a loving and happy environment, in which I was encouraged to read, explore, and learn.
