cot is an abbreviation for cotangent. In a right triangle, cotangent of an acute angle is equal to the adjacent side divided by the opposite side.
SInce cot is not on a key on the calculator, to find the area using this formula, you'll have to use 1/tan(pie/n). You do this because cotangent is equal to 1/tan. It is also equal to cos/sin.
It wasn't very nice for people to call you stupid. Just ignore them.
