Embryonic stem cells do not come from abortions. by the time most embryos are detected the cells have already differentiated and can not be used in pure embryonic research. the majority of the embryos come from or would come from embryos that are created through some form of fertilization.

Most pregnancies naturally abort. It happens early on, so all the parent notices is a heavy period. but that is the age at which the 'embryo' would be used for stem cell research. The rabid "pro-lifers", especially of the religious type, have yet to explain why their god has intelligently designed a reproductive system predisposed to abort!

duh... they dont want to get cells from aborted fetuses...
they want to add egg &sperm..once fertilized then they wait until it starts to divide then extract what cells they want..
Despite the hype ...stem cells have never actually cured any disease...Stem cells have potential as they can be coerced into many different types of cells...but they have not really figured out how to get the new "cells" into and exactly where they need to be..
Stem cell research is the latest buzz: many corps are expecting government funding in addition to their donations gleaned from the people who are led to believe that this research may produce a cure...
Many others object to the idea of creating life simply to destroy it for parts(cells). Some fear that junkies or others in need of $$ will sell their eggs....(female eggs can be "harvested as a simple office procedure..) .

avon ole buddy, you saying a woman has an abortion every month? i think you better have another talk w/ mommy son. you re being misled by your classmates. stemcell research is an idea at best that they cant figure out. i guess you have to start somewhere, but for michael j fox saying "superman" would still be alive today if it werent for bush standing in the way of this technology is grossly unfair since they havent a clue where to go

Harvesting anything from or experimenting with aborted fetuses is illegal, in every definition of the word. End of story.
