In terms of evolution it is gene flow. Perhaps the two populations have been vastly separated by distance and pollen, being light and easily carried great distance by wind or insects, has found its way to fertilize a population of plants far away. New genes are introduced to that population.

Hybridization? i dont think its an evolutionary process.... but if it is thats it.
