curses curses curses!!
im sick of all the people that listed reasons why in a league where anyone will get hurt at anytime they blame madden. Oh a running back got injured that doesnt make any sense, but he was on the madden lets blame that!
look people curses are only what you make of them. If vince young has a great season does he break the curse. i mean look at everything thats happened to the titans, is that a curse?
when u start to throw the curse word around loosely (or even use it for a VIDEO GAME COVER) everyone starts believing and the first bad thing that happens.... oh its the madden curse its the madden curse!! well lemme ask you this, remember when ESPN ran that commercial where alexander got hurt? was that a curse?
im just saying there is not a curse to people who wont believe and there is a curse to the people that dont.
vince young may get hurt because his position gets hurt a lot, so as for that im not sure

I hope not but the so-called "Madden Cover Jinx" has an interesting history.
The Madden Curse, also known as the Madden Cover Curse, is a myth involving the video game series Madden NFL, stating that the season a player appears on the cover, that player will be cursed with either an injury or poor performance.
Before 1998, the cover included only an image of John Madden. Players who have appeared on the cover in subsequent years have generally failed to reproduce their success of the previous years, for a variety of reasons. Marshall Faulk, Daunte Culpepper, Michael Vick, Donovan McNabb, and Shaun Alexander all have suffered injuries in their season appearing on the cover. These performances and injuries resulted in speculation of a curse. The "Madden Curse" has evolved into a much-reported phenomenon, with several news and sports media outlets referring to it as a phenomenon on par with the fabled Sports Illustrated Cover Jinx.
In total, the 10 cover players since 1999 had a total of 39 Pro Bowl appearences prior to their Madden cover appearances, compared with just 4 Pro Bowl appearences afterward.
While it appears that the victims to the curse have had off seasons after performing exceptionally well, many regard this as simple regression towards the mean. That is, these featured athletes' performances are so outstanding that in fact they should not be expected to repeat them.
Also, defenses usually key in on a player who had an exceptional season prior. Finally, the idea of having a "best season" entails that only one season will be a best season. More explicitly, one cannot have two best seasons and any given best season cannot be beaten.
Another issue in some cases may be the matter of workload. Both Eddie George in 2000 and Shaun Alexander in 2005 recorded career highs in carries. This high workload contributed to their impressive totals in yards and touchdowns, but the additional wear and tear this workload entailed may have contributed to their injuries in the following seasons.
Vince Young has one good thing going for him and that is that he is a Tennessee Titan. The last Titan to be on the cover was Eddie George. He is the only player who didn’t get injured and his production on the field actually increased. Just maybe, maybe there is a Titan immunity to the Madden Jinx.

Vince Young will get hurt during the season because he has no one to throw the ball to anymore. He lost his top two receivers and a running back to boot. Plus Pac-Man won't be around either. He was cursed long before he found out about the Madden cover.

Yea, that thing is definitely real. Look at all of the players that it has injured in the past. Dorsey Levans had 1000 rushing the year before, next year had 200 yards. Eddie George had 1400 yards with 3.9 ypc, went down to 900 with a 3.3, Daunte got injured after starting 4-7. Marshall Faulk had 7 1000 yard seasons in his 9 year career, never had one again, Michael Vick gets injured literally as soon as the game comes out missed all but five games, Ray Lewis came the closeset to breaking the curse, but it gets you before the end. He broke his wrist in the second to last game of the season. Donovin Mcnabb got a sports hernia and had to deal with Terrell Owens! Before the cover, Shaun Alexander had never missed a single game in his career, then he cracked a bone in his foot and missed alot of last season. Here is another to think about, maybe it can affect your mind. Barry Sanders after 10 years in the league and still in his prime retires after he is put on the cover. He says because he was tired of losing and the politics of the game were driving him crazy, but deep down, the curse made him do it. So you see, no one has been able to avoid the curse, there are too many for this to be a coincidence. Here is my prediction on how he gets hurt. He thinks he is invincable in a game and trys to run over a middle linebacker. He gets dominated and breaks some ribs. That is how I think it happens.

Hopefully. Would someone tell me why he made the cover again??? I'm getting really bored with Madden's cover choices. Vince Young, Donovan McNabb, Michael Vick, Daunte Culpepper... do you think there's been enough scrambling QBs on the cover??? And now they put Young on there, as if he had some kind of unbelievable rookie season. I'm not going to bother buying it. Madden is old anyway. It never changes.

I don't think so. I think they chose VY specifically to break the curse. In the past they have chosen big name guys that have just come off of steller seasons. Well it is extreamly hard to repeat steller seasons so the fail part of the curse comes in right there. VY did not have a steller season (he only started 11 games) so he can only improve and break the curse.
Also perviously, all the people on the cover were long time vetrans, meaning they are old and more suseptible to injury. VY is young and healthy. So I think that he will be the curse breaker.
That being said, I'm still not going to draft him in fantasy football, just in case.

it's the Madden curse buddy. i sure the curse isn't just like "o well...hes mad good. so i'll just stop now". everyone else who was on it was sick nasty and owned at the sport. this game ruins careers of NFL players. personally, i love the game, but they should stop putting people on it. but someone gay on it. maybe terrel owens because hes an ***. that way, this can be used for good, not evil. vince young will get hurt this season, but tennessee will still make the playoffs. then they'll win the hole thing. (i'm not a titans fan)

If that's the case, no player will ever grace the cover again. They actually went through about ten players before they asked Young.
