Higher general vegetables and fruits diet, lower paraoxonase-1 for LDL antioxidants! http://jn.nutrition.org/cgi/content/full/132/10/3012

Hi toodd, numerous health benefits are associated with eating vegetables and fruits. A diet high in vegetables and fruits is likely to be linked to a decrease in the risk of cancer of the mouth, esophagus, stomach, lung, colon, rectum and possibly other cancers. Eating large amounts of vegetables and fruits has been clearly linked to a decrease in the risk of cardiovascular disease. Eating vegetables and fruits may also help improve bone health, diabetes control, and the maintenance of a healthy body weight.

Phytochemicals from green apples - known as highest polyphenols. Polyphenols from apples have an astonishing range of health effects, and may be nature's perfect antioxidant. They have previously shown effectiveness against colon, lung, liver and stomach cancer, among others. But this is the first published study showing that apple polyphenols may be even more effective against breast cancer tumors.

In every study, apple procyanidins have proven completely safe for humans. There is no toxicity, no irritation, and no side effects.

Also, Green tea is rich in a class of polyphenols (polyphenols give the plant its color) known as catechins (pronounced kat-a-kins).

Also, Yerba Mate contains 52 more known active chemical compounds than green tea. It is loaded with potent phytochemical antioxidants, and in far greater quantities than in green tea. Like green tea, it has anti-cancer and anti-aging benefits, again, in higher quantities.

About OPON -1. Human paraoxonase 1 (PON-1) is a serum high-density lipoprotein-associated enzyme mainly secreted by the liver. It has endogenous and exogenous substrates and displays protective properties with respect to cardiovascular disease and organophosphate intoxication. Increased PON-1 activity following consumption of polyphenol-rich diets is consistent with the beneficial cardiovascular effects of such diets. It was suggested that polyphenols could act through their antioxidant properties (PON-1 activity is known to be inhibited by oxidative stress).

Pomegranate juice consumption for 3 years by patients with carotid artery stenosis reduces common carotid intima-media thickness, blood pressure and LDL oxidation. Serum paraoxonase 1 (PON 1) arylesterase activity, an HDL-associated enzyme that can reduce lipid peroxides, thereby decreasing oxidative stress;

You probably are not having heart disease. It sounds most likely like a reaction from your anxiety. Next most likely is that you have GERD due to your diet. That means acid is bubbling up and causing a lot of distress in your esophagus, including painful spasms. Try an over the counter anti acid called brioschi after every meal. It tastes a little weird, not horrible but not good either. BUT it made a profound effect on my GERD and I ended up not needing any prescription drugs.
