No. Downtown Disney and the Disney Boardwalk are both admission-free. If you want to park at the Boardwalk, you'll need to present photo ID, though. I recommend taking the Disney shuttle bus to both places, however.
As others have mentioned, Pleasure Island requires an admission ticket after 6pm, but there is a "by-pass" walkway that will get you from the "West Side" of Downtown Disney to the "East Side" if you don't want to pay for Pleasure Island admission. If you're at Downtown Disney, be sure to check out DisneyQuest, Disney's Indoor Interactive Theme Park, since it's rumored to be closing forever after this Christmas season.
The Boardwalk is where you'll find Jellyrolls' Dueling Piano Bar, Atlantic Dance, and the ESPN Club (in which you'll be extremely disappointed if you've been to the one in Anaheim).

As a frequent visitor of downtown disney and the boardwalk as well as Univeral City Walk, there is not a fee. However, there are a lot of shops, kiosks, beer/tequila stands out in the streets of these popular places, so if you see something that you like, then you should have money. Also, there is GREAT dining areas there which are not free. You CAN take the water boat (for free) around disney and get on and off without a ticket and enjoy a whole day for free unless you purchase something. To see a show, movie, eat or easily enticed for spontaneous buying, then it is essentially free. It is a lot of fun to sit and watch the people and hear the music in the streets and see a live band or Nickalodean performers. It is very safe and loads of free fun. So, enjoy. Be sure and take the water taxi, even if it is just for the ride. You do not even have to get off unless you want to and they will bring you right back to where you started.

No, there is no separate admission required to Downtown Disney itself. Downtown Disney is comprised of three separate locations - The Marketplace, Pleasure Island, and The West Side. None of these areas have turnstyles or require admission of any kind. Years ago, you did need an admission ticket to enter the Pleasure Island portion of Downtown Disney (annoyingly located in between the other two areas). That is no longer true. Anyone can walk through Pleasure Island at no charge. However, there are several locations WITHIN Downtown Disney that do require admission: * DisneyQuest is what Disney bills as an "indoor interactive theme park" in the West Side area. It is basically a giant 5-story arcade with both old-school video games and new virtual reality technology. Best of the best is "Cyberspace Mountain", where you design your own virtual roller coaster and then ride it in a simulator. A single-day ticket to DisneyQuest costs $39.41 after tax. If you have purchased the "Water Park Fun & More" option on your Disney World theme park tickets, you can redeem one of the admissions for a DisneyQuest entry. * Cirque Du Soleil is a huge theater/circus/concert/extravaganza. If you've never seen it, it's hard to describe. There are many Cirque shows throughout the world. The one located at WDW is called "La Nouba". This theater is also located in The West Side. Tickets range from $69.23 to $121.41, and should be purchased well in advance. * The 6 clubs of Pleasure Island: Motion, BET Soundstage, Mannequin's Dance Palace, 8 Trax, Comedy Warehouse, and the Adventurer's Club. The first four are dance clubs. CW is an improv troupe that does about 5 or 6 30-minute shows per night. AC is an interactive play of sorts, where you're the extras. Another one that's hard to describe if you've never seen it. You can buy a one-club ticket to any of the four dance clubs for $11.66. These tickets are not valid at either AC or CW. You can buy a multi-club ticket for $23.38. These tickets are valid for all six clubs, and allow you to go to any or all of them on a given night. You can also use a single Water Park Fun & More option admission for a multi-club admission. Again, walking through Pleasure Island itself, including the shops and restaurants, does not require admission of any kind. Only the six clubs. I hope this information helps. Have a Magical Vacation! :-)

no...you only need tickets to get into the clubs at pleasure island. Downtown disney and the boardwalk are free to walk around in...some clubs at night on the boardwalk might have a cover though (of course you have to be over 21)

I didn't. I had a great time there but don't put your hopes up for Epcot-It was a snoozer!!! Magic Kingdom was the best and stayed open the longest. In addition, try to stay at one of the Disney hotels if possible. I didn't and your options are cut down drastically. This is everything from transportation to your purchases at the parks. Have fun!!!

No, but you do have to pay to get in2 Please ISland stuff in the evening! If you do go to Pleasure Island, make sure you go 2 both the comedy club & the adventurers club because they are both brilliant! Also, kids are allowed in the clubs too!
